Meera's peaceful sleep was disturbed when sunlight fell on her face. She slowly opened her eyes and felt that this morning was different from others. Curious about what was new, she turned her head slowly in every direction, but she couldn't see much.
She then sat up in bed and rubbed her eyes. When she opened them again, she noticed a single rose lying beside her on the bed. She was shocked and picked up the rose, still in a daze. At that moment, she realised that the room and bed were filled with a distinctly masculine scent. Her brow furrowed as she swung her legs over the edge of the bed to get up.
It was then that she understood the real change wasn't just the rose or the scent—it was something in her foot, specifically her ankle.
She slowly folded her legs in front of her and gazed at the anklet on her foot. Noticing this, she looked around and realised that the letter and the paper bag were missing from the floor; instead, they were neatly placed on the side table next to the wooden anklet box. Observing the changes, she touched her anklet and said to herself,
"So... I was right. It was you. You came here to see whether I would wear it or not. You stayed here the whole night, put an anklet on my leg, and I didn't even know you were in front of me."
As she said this, a lone tear made its way down her cheek. She slowly caressed the other side of the bed with her shaking hand, noticing the little folds here and there. The wrinkled bed sheet still held a hint of his warmth, though it was slowly starting to cool. Feeling this, she suddenly began to cry uncontrollably, clutching her dupatta to her chest with one hand.
"Why...? Why are you doing this to me? Am I that bad that you don't even want to show up in front of me? It's killing me; you are killing me like this!"
As she said this, her sobs grew louder, as if today were her last day in this world. After some time, she gathered herself, got out of bed, and went to get ready for the office. Her ankle chimed beautifully with each step she took, but she was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't even notice it.
She came to the office and immediately went to her cabin without noticing that everyone's eyes were on her because of the beautiful sound she made, eliciting various expressions from her colleagues. After settling her things in her cabin, she hurried to Vedansh's cabin, realising she was already late. Hearing a soft sound, Vedansh looked up from his file to see his cabin's closed door and smiled slightly..
After a few seconds, someone knocked on the door twice. The door then opened from the other side, and Meera entered. Hearing the knock, he lowered his eyes to the file he was reading. WhenMeera stood in front of him, she said,
"Good morning, sir"
Without looking at her, he said,
''You are late, Miss Meera.' He glanced at her anxious face and added, 'It's already 10 o'clock.''
Upon hearing this, Meera lowered her head and replied,
''I'm sorry, sir. It won't happen again."
He nodded his head and told her to report his schedule for today. After completing her work, she was about to leave when Vedansh stopped her, saying,
"Miss. Meera..."
Hearing this, Meera turned to Vedansh and asked,
"Yes, sir?"
He responded,
"What are you wearing? Is it something special today?"
Meera was taken aback for a moment, gazing at Vedansh's face. After a brief pause, she replied nervously,
"No, no, sir. I... I'm sorry. I know it doesn't look very professional, but... but"
Before she could finish, Vedansh interrupted, saying,
"Don't worry, Meera. It's okay. You can wear it whenever you want. It actually suits you."
With that, he gave her a bright smile.
Seeing this, Meera released the breath she had been holding. After saying thank you with a gentle smile, she left Vedansh's cabin.
Once she was gone, Vedansh got up from his seat, still smiling, and headed to his brother's cabin, lost in thought.
Today, there weren't many meetings or visits scheduled for Vedansh in the morning and afternoon. so, completed some paperwork and prepared everything for the evening meeting, which was set to take place at a famous hotel.
During this whole time, she had been avoiding unnecessary roaming due to the awkwardness after Vedansh's question. She noticed that today everyone was staring at her because of the ankle sound that occurred whenever she stepped out of her cabin.
In the evening, Meera approached Vedansh to remind him about their meeting and to discuss the contract that was supposed to be signed today. However, as she noticed that he was busy on a call, she waited for a moment. When he finally looked at her, she gestured toward her watch to indicate that it was time to leave for the meeting. She whispered that she would be waiting at the office entrance with the car and then left after receiving a nod from Vedansh.
She was waiting at the entrance for Vedansh when someone unexpected appeared and stood before her. She was so shocked to see that person that she just stared without blinking. Noticing her state, the person asked with a sad smile,
"How are you, Meera?"
