Hearing him, she snapped out of her thoughts and replied,
"Sorry, sir, for the disturbance, but I am here to apologise for what I did to your... fiancée."
Hearing her, he smirked, looking at her with his intense gaze. He rose from his seat and stood in front of the table, slightly leaning back on it for support while crossing his legs and placing his hands on the table, facing Meera.
Looking at him, she lowered her gaze and slightly bowed her head, like a child being scolded for a mistake. Staring at her with a smirk, he asked,
"So... are you here to apologise?"
"Yes, sir,"
she replied.
"Earlier, I didn't know that she is your fiancée. I am truly sorry for how I behaved and handled the situation."
Hearing her, he started to walk towards her, putting both hands in his pants pockets. He stood a few inches away from her, looking at her as he said,
"So, you are apologising for how you behaved, not for what you said, right? And what if she wasn't my fiancée, but someone else? Would you still apologise for something you don't regret?"
"No, Mr. Rathore, I just did what was right at that moment to protect my self-respect. She was cursing and humiliating me in front of everyone, so I talked back. I don't feel guilty for what I said. I believed that maybe I could have handled the situation better if I had behaved calmly—that's all."
As she spoke, he smirked and stood an inch away from her. Sensing this, she looked straight into his eyes, wide-eyed and in shock. She could smell his scent with every rapid breath she took. However, he was studying her with sharp eyes, trying to determine if she was telling the truth. Suddenly, he asked,
"Miss Sharma, are you married?"
Hearing him, she took a step back, clutching her dupatta tightly in her left hand. She opened her mouth to respond but seemed to lose her words, as if her voice was stuck in her throat. At that moment, Suryansh's cabin door opened, and Vedansh walked in, standing next to Meera.
When Vedansh entered, Suryansh stepped back and raised an eyebrow at his brother. Seeing his sibling, Vedansh flashed a bright smile.
"Sorry, Bhai Saa, but I need to discuss something important."
Saying this, he looked at Meera and asked,
"Can you wait for me in my cabin, Miss Sharma?"
Hearing this, she came out of her trance, looked at Vedansh, and then at Suryansh, who was glaring at her. Suryansh said,
"It's okay, you can go. There's no need for an apology."
Breathing a sigh of relief, she said a small thank you and hurriedly left the room. Meanwhile, Suryansh looked at Vedansh and asked in his deep voice,
"What happened?"
Vedansh replied,
"Bhai Saa, they are planning to attack..."
Upon hearing this, Suryansh raised an eyebrow and looked at Vedansh expectantly. Vedansh continued,
"Actually, we found out through our team that Shekhar Singh Rathore is planning some form of attack at the business party next week. He has some of his people in our company."
