The next day, Meera woke up and noticed a dark pink saree and a gajra (a floral hair adornment) on the opposite side of the bed. The floor of the room was covered with rose petals. Seeing this, she realised that he had come secretly during the night. It was their first anniversary, and perhaps it would be their last. Lost in these thoughts, she softly caressed the gajra and saree for a while.

After a moment of reflection, she got up from the bed and went to the washroom to get ready for the day. When she emerged, she stood in front of the mirror, drying her hair while imagining herself wrapped in the pink saree that lay on the bed beside the gajra. After towel-drying her hair, she clipped some sections and let the rest dry naturally. She then picked up the gajra and placed it in her hair.

Today, she decided not to hide anything. She wore her mangalsutra and applied her sindoor openly, as everyone knew she was married. There was no reason to conceal it, especially since this might be the end of everything. With these thoughts in mind, she embraced the moment and wore everything he had given her. She left for the office, feeling a mix of emotions about the day ahead.

As she entered the office, everyone started to stare at her and gossip, but she decided to ignore them and went to her cubicle. After settling her things, Meera went to Vedansh's office to report in. He was shocked to see her in a saree for the first time; he couldn't take his eyes off her.

When he looked at her, he stood up and said,

"Oh my God, is this really you?"

Hearing him, Meera smiled sweetly. Vedansh continued,

"You look very beautiful and gorgeous. Oh my!"

Meera laughed and thanked him for the compliment.

Then Vedansh noticed something he had never seen before: Meera was wearing her mangalsutra and had red sindoor in her hair. Seeing this, he got stunned, looking at this, she asked him,

 "What happened, sir?"

Hearing her question, Vedansh replied,

"You... you are wearing these openly today? Why? What happened? Did he...?"

Meera responded without emotion,

"Today is the day he forced me into this marriage. This will be the first and last time I wear something in his name."

Vedansh fell silent, looking deep into her sad and painful eyes. After a few moments of silence, he said, trying to change the topic,

"Okay... you're here..."

Hearing this, Meera said,

"Arey... I actually came to tell you that you have a meeting with the knights in half an hour, and Mr. Rathore will also be present there. This is your presentation file for the project."

Saying this, she handed him the file.

Angi hesitated and said,

"Sir, can I please have a half-day leave? I know I have already taken several leaves, but this is really important."

Hearing her, Vedansh replied,

"But we have a video conference meeting at noon. You know that's important too."

Meera chimed in,

"Don't worry, sir. I've already completed all the files and work needed for that conference. If you need any details or data, Nidhi will have everything you require. I've informed her, and she'll be with you at that time."
