Hearing all the doubts from Yasmina made Sammy sad. She really felt like she had a best friend and loved being around all the people in the camp. Sammy sadly looked down, shaking her head. She then walked away and was met with Violet who stood in front of her.
Violet put a hand on her shoulder, seeing the sad eyes, "Sammy. We both know she doesn't mean it. Things will be better tomorrow morning with a sun shining at us."
"Thanks Violet..." Sammy was still really sad about that. "But, this time, I don't know."
She then walked past Violet who looked forward to Yasmina.
Violet went to kneel beside Yasmina, talking to her, "Yaz, you're worrying too much about the future." Her heart hurt for the two. "Everything will be okay."
"No, it won't." Yasmina quickly told her in a tone. "It won't be. And I meant everything I said."
Violet didn't let her tone or words affect her. "Yasmina, do you trust me?"
Yasmina looked at the ground, not answering right away as she spoke slowly, "...of course I do."
Violet put a hand over Yasmina's, "Then trust me, everything will be okay because in the end, we're a team. We will all make it work. Together. Like we always do. And I'll say, I told you so, each time." She gently bumped her shoulder with hers.
Yasmina still felt a pit in her gut but she leaned onto the physical touch of Violet's shoulder. She had let walls down and let Violet in, talking to her, "I'm just worried."
Violet put her hand on the spare tire in front of them, "I know but there's nothing to worry about right now. We all still have our limbs intact. No broken bones. We're all still here." She then grabbed Yasmina's hand. "Now you can worry when we have something to worry about. So, get up and stop moping."
Yasmina squinted at those words. She gripped the tire and looked at Violet, "Okay, that was kind of harsh."
"So was telling Sammy that you were never best friends." Violet lifted the tire.
Yasmina helped lift the old rusty tire. "I'm sorry."
"I know." Violet nonchalantly said out loud. She glanced over at a very sad-looking Sammy, "But she doesn't. So, are you going to go and make up with your best friend?"
Yasmina looked in that direction–
A car horn went off from Brooklynn trying to grab rubbles from under it. Kenji and Darius had figured that if the horn had power then they could use the power box from it to use on the gate which would power on. It would be electric. Connor had found wires for it to get connected and the gate was even more reinforced.
