It was pitch dark outside, surrounded by nature with tall high trees and dinosaurs roaming the island. All the campers were out on the cabin's balcony, snuggled up around the campfire. Some sat alone while some needed one beside them. The warmth and protection from the horrors of the tales to come.
"We thought it'd be fun." Darius sat in the middle around the campfire, leaning forward with a hoodie on. He was trying to get everyone into the spooky mode as everyone was quiet. "We thought we'd be safe, but...we didn't realize the...horror waiting for us on the island. Claws...Teeth...Screaming...So much screaming."
Ben scooted closer to Connor with an arm wrapped around his shoulders. "How much screaming?"
Connor huffed out with an annoyed look at the kid. "Ever heard of personal space?" He spoke in a low voice as he leaned forward to rest his forearms on his own thighs.
Before Ben could say or do anything, Kenji shushed them. "He's getting to the good part."
"The T.rex stalked closer." Darius continued on with his story then expanded his arms outward. "Her jaws opened wide." Then his eyes closed from the bright light of Brooklynn's phone snapping a picture. Darius sighed as he went to try and continue the story again. He went quiet, trying to get the mood scary. "The T.rex sta-"
Violet quietly tip-toed up behind Darius in the shadow and stood up tall with her arms out. Once she was close enough she quickly leaned forward and screamed as she grabbed onto Darius' shoulder. This resulted in everyone around the campfire screaming just after her act.
Violet laughed at them all. Ben had fallen backward, yelling, making Connor tumble back too.
Connor leaned up with his elbow on the wooden floor while sending Ben a glare. He shoved Ben off of him as Ben had landed half of his body on top of Connor. "I'm switching bunks." Connor had slept on a top bunk while Ben had taken the bottom bunk of Connors.
"What?" Ben worriedly spoke out loud. "But-but I need someone on the same bunk. It's scary sleeping in a bunk bed alone."
"Not. My. Problem." Connor stood up from the ground while walking back into the cabins away from the others.
When Connor left the group, Ben quickly scooted to the next closest person, Kenji, and he gripped his arm around his.
Brooklynn put her phone down to put her attention on the others as she talked, "So, Conny's still not warming up to any of us."
"Conny?" Violet looked over at Brooklynn with a questioning look but a smile that read, when did this happen?
Brooklynn glanced over at Ben with a smile. "Ben and I came up with it in the lab. When you guys were picking up dino-poop."
