A Happy Hedgehog Birthday 🎂🦔(Cosette Birthday)

Today is June 22. That is my oc Cosette's birthday 🎂 (her zodiac is a cancer). Happy birthday, my sweet Cosette!

In Cosette's bedroom at the Heartsabuyl dorm...

Cosette was fast asleep in her room, her face snuggled against her heart-shaped pillow. She was sleeping soundly, unaware of her bedroom door slowly yet carefully being opened.

Creeeak.

"Could you be more quiet?!"

A hushed yet hasty whisper slipped through the open crack in the door. The girl stirred in her sleep when that familair voice broke the peaceful silence in her room. It sounded like Riddle.

"Hey! I didn't do it on purpose!"

Her eyes started blinking open, recognizing the second and very annoyed voice to be Ace. "Come on, guys. Cosette's gonna hear us, and the surprise will be ruined. So let's make it quick." Trey's voice came up next, staying calm and trying to stop any argument before it emerges. If they make too much noise, everything they planned would be ruined.

Cosette had a clue on why they were here. She smiled to herself, knowing today was special for her. She was gonna have to play along to let their plan work.

"Trey's right. Besides, she probably hears us by now." Deuce's voice reasoned quietly, and she pulled her blanket closer to stifle her laughter. Sometimes, her friends really knew how to make her laugh, especially without trying.

The voices died down, but she knew they were still here. The girl waited in anticipation, keeping her eyes closed. She heard some shuffling across the floor and felt a light weight on her bed.

"Squeak! Squeak! Squeak!"

"No, no! Hush!"

Suddenly, the silence was broken again. Only this time from loud squeaks. It sounded like a small animal. She heard that voice from earlier when the door opened, trying to quiet down the louder ones. It was getting harder and harder to keep her giggles from bursting out of her mouth.

"No! Get back here!"

"Squeak!"

Her eyes popped open, startled, when she felt something soft touch her nose and heard a tiny squeak. Before her was a tiny little red hedgehog, brushing his nose against her nose and cheeks curiously. Cosette couldn't hold it anymore and started giggling, finding those little nuzzles ticklish.

"Hahaha! Stop that! That tickles!" She cooed between laughter, gently picking up the tiny animal in her hands. Her eyes glanced up to find Riddle, frozen at her bedside with a wide eye expression. He also had several hedgehogs with him on the bed.

"Good morning, Riddle." She greeted amusingly, giggling a little. His shocked face faltered, smiling awkwardly. This was not going as planned, but then again, nothing did at NRC. "Yes! Um, good morning, Cosette! And um, a happy birthday to you!"  He greeted her nervously and flustered. However, his nervousness went into dismay when he realized he had said the last part, too soon.

"Aw, thank you, Riddle! Was this my little birthday surprise? Hedgehogs in bed?" She asked him curiously, holding the one in her hands up to her face and nuzzling her nose against it.

He started to relax, finding it calming to see her happy like this and being affectionate with the hedgehogs. "Well, part of it." He told her, getting her attention back at him. He motioned to his right, and she looked up, finding her bedroom door opened.

"Happy birthday, Cosette!"

"Oh my goodness!" She exclaimed in surprised yet excitement, clapping her hands when the rest of their friends entered her room. Trey was bringing her a large strawberry shortcake, Deuce brought some balloons tied around the tinier gifts while Ace held the bigger ones. They had been planning to surprise Cosette on her birthday by bringing a small party to her in bed.

Cater was holding his guitar, gently playing a little birthday music for her. "Awww! You all did this for me?" She asked them, setting the hedgehog down. However, her eyes spotted a sleek pink ribbon around its paw with a white scroll on it.

Her eyebrows rose curiously, gently taking the paper off the little animal. She unfolded the little scroll, and her eyes widened, recognizing Riddle's writing:

'We heart you every day, Cosette. Your kindness and compassion have always been a gift to us. So now, just as the Queen of Hearts gets showered with love and appreciation, let us do the same for you, our sweet queen.'

"Happy birthday, dear Cosette."

She glanced up at Riddle when he said that after she finished reading the letter. He smiled softly at her, which made her blush red. Though this time, she didn't turn her face away like she would usually do. Cosette smiled back at him, appreciating how much thought and planning they put in this birthday morning surprise.

"Thank you. All of you! This was so sweet!" She exclaimed, smiling fondly at everyone. Her friends smiled back at her, telling her thank yous and birthday wishes. "Alright! Now let's cut some cake for the birthday queen!" Ace announced, eagered for a slice.

"Alright. But Cosette gets the first slice!" Riddle reminded firmly, yet he couldn't stop smiling, seeing his friends and Cosette so happy. On her birthday, she would be the queen, and that's that.

Cater pulled out his phone, setting the camera on selfie mode. "Alright, everyone! Smile for camera! Hashtag, happy birthday, Cosette! Hashtag hedgehog surprise!" He told them, everyone gathering around on her bed with the hedgehogs crawling on them.

"Smile!"

SNAP!

Once the camera took the picture, it showed everyone smiling, Ace already taking a bite of his cake in the midst of it and Cosette and Riddle making a heart sign together with the hedgehogs on them, smiling wide and laughing at the ticklish nuzzles from the hedgehogs. Yep. This was definitely a birthday fit for their sweet, kind queen.
