Takes place after "It's a Date"
It wasn't exactly hard to find Leona. Mara easily found him napping behind the waterfall in the botanical gardens. His arms were tucked beneath his chin, snoring quietly.
The cheetah stared at him for a bit, examining his face and posture. "He looks rather peaceful." She thought. "It would be ashame if someone woke him up." Mara quietly mumbled, glancing at the waterfall. The corners of her mouth perked up into a devious grin as she twirled her magic pen around.
"Levitate!" She commanded, aiming her pen at the waterfall. The magic shimmered around it, forming a little ball of water, and then threw it at the sleeping lion.
"Ah!"
Leona immediately woke up the moment the cold water splashed right on his face. He literally jumped to his feet wide awake and his eyes huge. His ears perked up at Mara's laughing, and he growled, agitated, slowly turning to her.
The death glare he sent would make one shake in fear, but for Mara, with the water drops dripping down his face and his hair soaked, it was a hilarious sight for her.
"Awww. Did I wake you, your highness?" She taunted at him, moving herself behind the waterfall. The cheetah was ready to run if he decided to chase her. Hopefully, the waterfall would be a nice obstacle for him because he would have to go around it while for her it would take a second to get away from.
Leona snarled at her before shaking his head to rid the water from his hair. "Please tell me you had a good reason for waking me up. If not, you have five seconds to run." He threatened, beginning to untie his braids to squeeze the water out.
While he hated being woken up, Leona especially hated it when it was Mara because she had some creative, or, in his opinion, cruel ways to wake him up for her own amusement. That's why he specifically requested Ruggie to wake him up.
The cheetah stepped away from the waterfall, taking the moment to ask him as he went to fix his braids. "Actually, I am here to ask a question. Remember when you asked me out to a date tonight? Well, it came to me that you didn't exactly give me any details on WHERE we're going for our date. " She reminded him as he started braiding one of his strands after squeezing the water out.
"You want help?" Mara offered, disregarding the side glare he gave her. Nevertheless, Leona nodded yes, letting her come close to fix the other braid for him. It was actually one of their peaceful moments together. Leona didn't know why, but he liked it when Mara braided his hair. She was always gentle and took care of it.
"So where are we going to eat, lazy lion?" She asked him, twisting the strands together. Leona opened his mouth to give his answer. Simple and straightforward as it should be. As long as meat was on the menu, he didn't care where they ate.
However, he paused at a thought and started contemplating about it. He remembered something back when his brother and sister in law were engaged. Mara watched him as she finished the braid, curious about what was going through his mind. After settling on the idea, he glanced up at her and spoke in a very casual tone.
"Guess."
"Guess?" Mara raised an eyebrow at him as if he asked if the sky were blue. "Yeah. Guess where we're eating." He said, clearing up the confusion a bit. The cheetah stared at him blankly. Not exactly the typical Leona response.
As tied his braid with the elastic band, she thought carefully. Leona was about to respond, but whatever it was, he decided to change it. "Well, knowing you, it's gotta be a place with meat, so..." she mentioned, about to think of some restaurants that serve meat in Port Town. Though that shouldn't be hard to find.
In response, Leona flattened his ears, annoyed when her answer was based on what he wanted. "Ok. For a moment, forget what I want. I don't care where we eat as long as there is meat on the menu. So just think about where YOU would want to eat." He elaborated.
If he was taking a girl out, Leona had to be considerate on what they were in the mood for to eat. Even if she was vegetarian or couldn't eat meat for whatever reason, it was only right that girl gets to pick where they like to eat.
The cheetah stared at him, blinking a couple of times. She knew Leona wasn't one to disrespect females like her. She had grown used to him wanting to avoid trouble with her. But for him putting the final decision in her hands? Mara had no idea how to feel about it.
Seeing how bothered he was, she decided to make her choice before he decided to change his mind again. After going through some options, her ears perked when she remembered a restaurant Lilia told her about.
"There's a restaurant that cooks up aisan food in Port Town. It's called Dragon's Wok. Lilia says it's pretty good." She suggested to him. Leona's perked up in interest, smiling a little.
"So, are we eating there?" She asked, turning to look at him. Leona merely shrugged before turning his back to her. "I don't know. Guess we'll find out tonight." He simply told her, and before she could ask another question, he was back on the floor, napping.
The cheetah looked at him with a raised eyebrow, though unsurprised he won't to resume his nap. "What the-Leona! We have to decide and make the reservations!" She pointed out, but the only response was some snoring from him, earning an unamused look from the cheetah.
She had a flat look on her face, flattening her ears in annoyance. "You better not be late. Otherwise, I'm coming after you." She sighed before taking her leave.
When the cheetah was far away, Leona looked over his shoulder, smirking a little. His phone was in his hand, turning to glance at the screen. "Heh. Dragon's Wok it is." He declared to himself, pressing on the phone to reserve a spot. If it worked for his brother and made his sister in law happy, then it will work for him.
