I took a deep breath as I walked down the aisle with the rest of my classmates. I took the seat between Harry and Jade. Minzy was the valedictorian. A few people were holding hands, this would’ve been the last time some people were seeing each other. I sighed and sat back in my seat and waited for the ceremony to start. Principal Barnett finally stepped up onto the platform and we all stood up.
“Good evening graduates, fellow staff, parents, guardians. Please have your seats” she said. We sat down and the ceremony begun, the principal gave a speech. A few of our teachers spoke. The biology teacher seemed happy we were leaving. That was probably because me, Jhonny and Raine wreaked havoc in her class all the time, we ditched class, we played pranks and we caused damage to the biology lab. I couldn’t help but laugh during her speech. When Minzy stepped up on stage to give her speech, Harry grabbed my hand and Jade grabbed the other. Jhonny and Tamani turned around and smiled weakly at us. Mikael had his hand on Junior’s shoulder.
I listened intently to Minzy’s speech about universities and our careers and marriage and other future plans. A few people were crying, I realized a tear had escaped from my eye and Jade was sobbing quietly, I squeezed her hand and she smiled at me.
“So as we go out into the word, remember to apply what you learned and never forget the people who brought you up and helped you, don’t forget your classmates and don’t let distance affect friendships. I will truly miss you all. Ladies and Gentleman, the graduating class of 2013” she finished off saying, we cheered and threw our caps in the air. After her speech we received our diplomas and all the seniors wandered off since we were on a field. I walked around and hugged a few of my classmates and I squealed when I saw Jade, Minzy and Raine. I ran up to them and tackled each of them into a hug.
I felt someone tickle my sides and turned around to see Jhonny and the other guys standing there. Tamani lifted me into the air and the other guys did the same with all of us.
“We are officially university students” Jhonny said, as we sat down under a tree.
“That’s scary” Jade said, cringing slightly. Harry chuckled and took hold of her hand.
“Yeah it is. In three months. I’ll be in Julliard” I said.
“That’s true and I’ll be in Dubai” Minzy said with a thoughtful look on her face.
“Exactly!” Jade exclaimed. “It’s just months away. I’m not mentally prepared for University yet” she said, letting out a chuckle.
“It’s not that bad” Raine said, shrugging, she wrapped an arm around Jade’s shoulder.
“I’m going to miss you weirdos though. But I’m excited because Italy is a day away” Minzy said dramatically. We burst into laughter and spent the rest of the time just joking around and talking about our future.

I groaned as my suitcase fell down, once more. I picked it up, grunting to myself. Jhonny and Tamani were snickering at my dilemma. On the way inside, my suitcase got caught in a hole and now it has one wheel instead of two.
“Suitcase problems?” Jhonny asked, sounding amused. I shot him a glare and picked up my suitcase. Our parents were sorting out the passports, Minzy and Jade had gone to buy food for us. Raine was sitting on the floor reading a book with her headphones in, my brothers were in the arcade in the airport and Harry was in the bathroom or something.
“Yes” I grunted. He laughed along with Tamani. I slapped Tamani on his head and kicked Jhonny’s shin. They both groaned in pain and I walked away satisfied. I saw a few pilots giving me disapproving looks. They probably didn’t want some teenagers causing problems in the airport. I smirked at them and stood by my parents, who were just finishing up, at the counter.
“Oh hi, is something wrong?” my dad asked worriedly. He was probably wondering why I came over here so quickly. He’d always been overprotective, along with my brothers, since he thinks my kidnapping when I was younger was his fault and my mom felt guilty about it since they had some problems in the past with my mom’s uncle and he’s out of jail now so he was extra cautious.
“Nah, Jhonny and Tamani are making fun of my suitcase so I came over here” I said, waving my hand dismissively. My dad, along with, Jhonny and Jade’s father, Uncle James laughed.
“Yeah that sounds like Jhonny” Uncle James commented. I smiled at him and they picked up their stuff and we walked back to Jhonny and Tamani, Raine was standing up now with the book tucked under arm but her headphones were still on. Minzy and Jade had come back and Harry, Junior and Mikael were coming towards us.
“The flight leaves in ten minutes so let’s hurry up” Uncle Drew, Raine and Tamani’s father said, his wife, Aunt Siobhan and Aunt Jael, Jhonny’s mother were busy chatting so they didn’t hear anything they were saying. Uncle Kwon and Aunty Rebekka were snickering under their breaths.
“Let’s GO” Uncle Drew emphasized finally catching their attention. I picked up my suitcase and kicked Jhonny’s suitcase playfully so it fell down.
“I call the window seat!” Jhonny shouted, I promised to sit next to him on the plane but I wanted the window seat.
“No way!” I called chasing after him. We dodged through people and started walking calmly to show the guy our tickets and ran into the plane. We kept tripping each other and running in front of each other. When we reached to our seats, we had a stare down and I rushed to the seat but he pushed me out of the way calmly. We wrestled playfully over the seat until I finally got the seat.
“Next time, Shawna Embry” he said, tending to a slight wound he got on his arm. Our families gave us amused looks but the flight attendant didn’t look too amused at our wrestling match. She shook her head and glared at us, making us snicker.
The plane ride was about nine hours. They showed movies and me and Jhonny criticized everything that was going on. We thumb wrestled and arm wrestled and we played cards. I was exhausted but I didn’t like to sleep on planes. I sighed in relief when the flight attendant grabbed the microphone.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please put your planes up, the plane is about to start descend” she said in a high pitched, fake cheery voice. The plane finally landed in Italy and the excitement was plain on Jhonny’s face. I’m sure I looked the same way.
After claiming our stuff and going through immigration, we waited around for some tour guide that was assigned to us but he was at least fifteen minutes late.
“Where is he?” I asked Uncle Drew, feeling impatient. He shrugged and checked his watch again.
“What’s his name? I’m going to have a word with him when he gets here” Raine said and I nodded in agreement.
“Lorenzo” Uncle Drew answered after checking the brochure.
“He better be the best tour guide ever” Raine whispered to me. I chuckled and looked around and I saw the guy who had taken the group shot of all of us the night we had skipped prom and went around the city. He was wearing a white polo and his hair was sticking up all over the place but he still looked handsome. My breath hitched and Raine gave me a strange look. He smiled brightly at me and winked.
“It’s you” he said happily.
“It’s you” I muttered, eyeing him. I may owe Jhonny ten dollars at the end of the month.
