Chapter 16 - Vineyard

“You’re pregnant?” Junior asked my mother, looking shocked and slightly disgusted.

“When did that happen?” I asked.

“How did that happen?” Mikael asked smirking. I smacked him in the back of his head and he raised his hands in surrender. My mom chuckled and my father wrapped an arm around her waist and rested his hands on her flat stomach.

“Yeah I’m pregnant” she said, smiling down at her stomach. I smiled and ran to hug her and Mikael and Junior soon joined in.

“That means you have to be extra careful” Uncle James warned her, packing up all his medical supplies. My dad nodded and tightened his hold on my mother. Uncle James patted Mikael and Junior on the back and messed up my hair before leaving.

“He’s right. Shawna you said you saw your mother’s uncle recently. If he’s here, he can’t be here for a good reason. He probably wants to target you three now” my dad said looking slightly stressed out.

“Just remember to not go out by yourselves” my mom said, smiling sweetly at us.

“And you” my dad said, turning to face my mother. “Are not leaving this hotel without me or Drew” he said, looking deadly serious. She scoffed and rolled her eyes.

“What am I, five?” she asked, I chuckled and she smiled at me.

“Please baby?” he asked quietly. She sighed and nodded.

“And Shawna, you’re not leaving the hotel without a guy. Do you understand me?” my dad directed his attention to me. I nodded, not wanting to fight with him about it. “Look after your sister” he told Mikael and Junior.

“Why did this have to happen to us?” I asked, taking a seat next to my dad on the bed.

“I don’t know honey” my dad said. I sighed and got up from the bed.

“Anyway I have to go. Actually we have to go” I said, grabbing Mikael and Junior’s hands. We gave our parents quick good byes and left the room. As soon as we left the room, I saw Jhonny and Tamani standing in the corridor. I cocked one eyebrow at them and they gave me innocent grins.

“What are you doing here?” I asked them.

“Nothing” they both answered simultaneously.

“Yeah right” I said, flashing an annoyed look at Jhonny. Tamani, Mikael and Junior walked off leaving me and Jhonny there. I took a step closer to Jhonny and gave him a questioning look.

“I was just worried” he said. I sighed and rested my head in my hands. I heard Jhonny walk closer to me. He put his index finger below my chin and raised my head up to look up at him. His eyes were shining with an emotion I had never seen on him before. “You don’t have to be scared Shawna. You have me” he said softly. My breath hitched when he cupped my cheek.

“I know” I breathed out. My heart rate picked up when he took a hold of my hand. What was happening to me?

“I know you know” he said, smirking at me. There was the Jhonny I knew and loved. We made eye contact for a minute and his features softened slightly. “One day you’ll see it” he whispered.

“See what?” I questioned, cocking my head to the side.

“Nothing” he said, giving me a smile. I smacked his shoulder making him wince slightly. “You ready to go?” he asked, smiling innocently.

“Yea” I mumbled. I realized he still had a hold on my hand as we walked out of the hotel which made my brothers who were waiting outside, glare at us. I quickly let go of his hand and made my way into Lorenzo’s van where everyone else was. I took a seat next to a window and as usual Jhonny took the seat next to me.
