“She tried to knock you down?” my dad asked looking furious as he started pacing around the hotel room. I watched his every moment cautiously. Jhonny was sitting next to me on the floor and my mom was sitting on the bed looking increasingly worried.

“Jakey sit down” she said in a soothing voice trying to get my father’s attention.

“Why won’t she leave us alone?” he asked, sounding agitated and taking the seat next to my mother on the bed. She rested a hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him. I sighed, feeling depressed. It was evident these people weren’t going to leave us alone.

“There has to be another way to end all this” I looked up when Jhonny spoke up.

“We just need to watch our backs” my mom said with a shrug.

“She’s right. Like my dad said, business as usual” I told him. He sighed and nodded as we left the room.

“You want to go for a walk?” he asked, he probably noticed how stressed out and depressed I was at the moment. I nodded and he took my hand as we left the hotel. We had been walking for a few moments until I heard someone calling my name. I turned around and saw Lorenzo jogging towards us, I scowled and continued walking as I studiously ignored him.

“Shawna stop!” he yelled after a while. I sighed and me and Jhonny stopped walking and turned to face him.

“What do you want?” I asked him through gritted teeth. I looked up at Jhonny who was simply glaring at Lorenzo.

“I need to talk to you” Lorenzo said quickly.

“About what?” I asked.

“About us. Can we at least be friends?” he asked. My jaw dropped as I stared at him. He was not serious about life. He couldn’t be serious about life.

“No.” I said bluntly. He stared at me for a second and I heard Jhonny’s muffled chuckle.

“I’m sorry Shawna. I didn’t mean to say those things to you. I’m really sorry” he said, he looked sincere enough but I wasn’t sure if I was ready to forgive him yet.

“I forgive you” I said and he gave me a toothy smile. “Doesn’t mean I’m getting back with you. It doesn’t even mean we’re friends” I told him, narrowing my eyes at him.

“Would the two of you like to come for lunch at my uncle’s boat?”” he asked suddenly. I cocked my head to one side wondering what his request had to do with anything.

“Just a friendly lunch” he said. I looked up at Jhonny who was simply staring at Lorenzo.

“Okay….” I trailed off. Lorenzo smiled and we walked to his boat. It was a long, awkward walk considering none of us spoke and I could feel how tense Jhonny was.

When we finally reached Lorenzo’s boat, he closed the door on the boat but I was surprised when he locked it and sat at the sailor’s seat. I cocked one eyebrow when he put it on ‘auto’ and the boat started sailing by itself. What surprised me more was when I felt someone poke me on the shoulder. I spun around and I saw her standing there. My grandmother. My breath caught in my throat when she pulled out a gun. Jhonny gasped and tried to push the gun out of her hand but she simply pointed it in his direction making my blood run cold.

“Lorenzo. Restrain him” she told Lorenzo, gesturing to Jhonny with the gun. She turned her attention and her gun back to me.

“You look just like your mother” she said. I couldn’t form a coherent sentence with the gun pointed at me so I stayed silent. “And you have your father’s eyes.”
