I looked out at the scenery from the balcony of my room in awe. It was basically a field that went on for miles. I sighed in contentment, finally feeling relaxed. For the past few days I had been on edge since Tracy’s appearance and Lorenzo’s unfaithfulness. I just wish my life could go back to normal when I didn’t know Jhonny loved me and I didn’t have my mother’s crazy uncle after me.
“You okay?” someone asked. I turned around and came face to face with Liam. He was standing at the door of the room awkwardly.
“No” I answered honestly. He nodded and came to join me on the balcony and stood right next to me making me feel dwarfed since he was a few inches taller than me.
“Want to talk about it?” he asked cautiously, leaning against the railing.
“My boyfriend cheated on me. My best friend is in love with me and my past is basically coming back to haunt me” I spilled out.
“I really am sorry about that” he apologized, making eye contact with me for a split second. I could tell he was being genuine. “Do you want me to explain what happened?” he asked.
“Yes”
“Okay, so my father is friends with Tracy and he had to go away on a business trip so he left me with his most trusted friend and I accidentally walked in on Tracy planning something against your parents which involved kidnapping you. He got really mad because of course children say the first thing that comes to mind and he didn’t want my father to know so he made a deal with me: if I helped kidnap you and keep quiet, he would make sure I got to spend more time with my dad. I held up my end of the deal but he didn’t. My father was mysteriously killed the week after the police found you” he said, tensing up. His eyes looked glassy as he told me.
“I’m sorry about that” I whispered.
“It’s not your fault. Tracy killed him, he was going to kill me too. That was what he meant when he said he will make sure I got to spend more time with him but I got out of it by saying I’d team up with him and me and Tracy have been a team ever since until recently I got out of it. That day I saw you with that guy in the restaurant. I was actually talking to him about dropping out” he explained to me.
“Why did you want to leave Tracy?” I asked him feeling curious.
“He spent years plotting stuff against you and your family. It was getting boring and obsessive. I didn’t care about you guys like that because I felt I was against people I didn’t even know until now” he said. “Now I realized that you’re somewhat cool and I’m with Minzy now. I’m happier now.”
“Thank you” I told him, pulling him into a hug which he returned.
“I really want to make it up to you though” he said, when we separated.
“It’s okay. I already forgive you” I told him, waving a dismissive hand.
“C’mon let me make it up to you” he said, giving me a cute puppy face. I rolled my eyes and nodded at him which made his face light up. “Let’s go then” he said, taking hold of my hand as we left the room.
“Wow” was the only word I could say when we finally reached our destination. It was a large music hall. I walked down the stairs and made my way to the stage. Me and Liam were the only ones there at the moment. “This is beautiful” I breathed out.
“You like it?” he asked, looking hopeful.
“Of course I do!” I whispered, running my fingers over the grand piano in the middle of the stage. I sat down at the piano bench and ran my fingers over the keys.
