Picture of Lorenzo >>>>>>>>>>
I scowled at Jhonny who was standing behind Lorenzo. He had all his fingers up indicating ‘ten’. I rolled my eyes and shook hands with Lorenzo.
“I’m Shawna” I said. Lorenzo gave me a breath taking smile which I returned, we were having a moment but Mikael stepped in between us.
“I’m Mikael” he said, flashing a fake smile to Lorenzo. I groaned and threw my head back, feeling embarrassed.
“So anyway, let’s get on with the tour” Lorenzo said quickly, clapping his hands together. He took my bag and I smiled gratefully and he led us outside into a small bus. He drove out of the airport compound and we looked out the window. The streets were decorated with lights. The buildings were old and made out of brick for the most part, I smiled as I saw a few little boys playing football.
“You’re staying in the hotel in Verona right?” Lorenzo asked, looking unsure. My mother nodded at him and he made a sharp turn. “Sorry about that, I was going the wrong way” he said sheepishly.
“It’s okay” I said, giving him a reassuring smile.
“So how long are you staying here?” he asked, the question seemed to be directed to me.
“For the summer” I answered shrugging. Jhonny poked my shoulder to get my attention but I studiously ignored him since I knew he was going to tease me about Lorenzo again.
“Shawna!” he shouted in my ear. I screamed unintentionally and he threw his head back laughing.
“Not. Funny” I said through gritted teeth.
“It was funny. So, am I going to be ten dollars richer?” he asked. I elbowed him in the ribs and he groaned in pain. Uncle James turned around in his seat to see what happened and he smirked when he saw Jhonny doubled over in pain.
“Violence is never the answer Shawna” he reprimanded me playfully.
“It was this time” I said, rubbing Jhonny’s back. He laughed and redirected his attention to my dad.
“I’m gonna get you back for that one Embry” Jhonny told me smirking. “Yo Lorenzo!” he called out. A certain emotion flashed in his eyes for a moment but it was gone before I could detect it.
“Yes?” Lorenzo answered, sounding confused.
“Can you name a few romantic spots in Italy?” Jhonny asked, smirking at me.
“Well, the most romantic one is probably the lake that’s not too far away from your hotel” he said.
“Thanks man” Jhonny said, wiggling his eyebrows at me. This was going to be a long drive.
When we finally reached the hotel, I practically leaped out of the bus, I finally got away from Jhonny and his teasing. The hotel was beautiful. It was made of stone and it had clearly been around for a few centuries. There was a small flower garden to the front. We walked through the double doors, the inside was more modern than the outside. There was a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. A few couches, facing a flat screen television and the manager’s counter and a small waterfall behind it.
After a few arrangements we got the keys to the hotel rooms.
“Okay four girls, five guys. The girls are upstairs and the guys are downstairs. No funny business. Understood?” Uncle Kwon warned us, flashing Harry and Jade a look. Uncle James gave Jade a worried look and sighed. They were the only couple among us so I could understand why they were a bit worried.
