It's pathetic to think that I'm only human,
Not a god, not an angel, nor am I the devil.
It's pitiful to think that these so called heros we worship are the same as all of us.
They are not special, they are not magic, they are flesh and bones, and they bleed the same blood.
Red and thick and full of shame.
We are scrappy, and crafty, angry and crazy.
We cry when we're mad, and we shut down when we are sad.
We do bad things and we make mistakes, we scream and we run, and we all break.
We are not gods,
We don't live forever,
We do not bleed ichor
Nor are we immune to liquor.
We may cry just the same,
But no one worships our names
We are not angels,
We don't have wings,
Or halos atop our heads.
We do not represent grace and faith.
And at the end of the day, we are all fakes.
We are not devils, but some people are close.
They ruthlessly kill, and they hopelessly try and fill out hearts with endless guilt.
They make us believe we owe them our lives, our mind, and even our innocence.
They may not be the devil, but some people sure have made deals with him.
We may not be mythical, immortal, or worshiped. But we are human,
We pick up habits from our family and friends,
We sing and we dance whenever the chance,
We write what we feel and use it to heal.
So maybe its not pathetic,
To be only human, maybe it's what makes us
More precious in this moment.
