Sofia Carson- 28

Hours later...

Sofia's POV

"You calling with good news, I hope?"

His voice was sharp, clipped- almost like he loved this game we were playing.

"I did what you asked, and I lost everything," I said, barely holding back the sobs.

"Casualties of war." He sighed, sounding bored. "But what does that have to do with me, though?"

"She's on the way to see your wife right now." I wiped my tears hastily, hating how weak I felt.

There was a pause.

"Good. I knew you could get it done. You underestimate yourself." I could hear the smug smirk in his voice.

"Now... can you leave my father alone?" I pleaded.

"For now." And then the line went dead.

"Jay-" I tried to call back, but it was too late.

Originally, the only thing I actually did was ask to meet Beyoncé. Just meet her before Y/n and I got married. I thought maybe if Beyoncé and Y/n connected, it could help Y/n heal. Help her understand where she came from. Maybe even help her find a piece of herself she'd lost. I didn't want to mess anything up-I just wanted to help her.

After Y/n told me she was done, I was never going to overstep again. I didn't want to push. But Jay had forced my hand.

When we returned back home, he had found some way to contact me. How? I don't know. He had given me an ultimatum. Saying I had to do whatever to ensure y/n reconnects with Beyonce or he was going to use his connections to powerful people to makes my fathers life a living hell.
My father, the hardest working man id known growing up-the man who poured his soul into his restaurant, the legacy he wanted to build, the generational dream he clung to.

I'm a daddy's girl.I couldn't let Jay destroy that, no matter the cost. So I crossed a line I never wanted to cross. Even if it meant standing in the way of my own happiness. It didn't make the pain hurt any less.
