The first of the new year, and I woke up to smelling food. "It's 9am, who's up this early cooking?" I asked myself as I got out of bed and walked down the stairs to see Samantha cooking breakfast. "This early?" I asked her. "I hope I didn't wake you up. Just thought of making breakfast early to get it out of the way," She told me, putting waffles on a plate with bacon and sausage for me. "Might as well eat," She said, handing me the plate. I ate breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. "I need to get dinner set up for this evening," Samantha said. "What shall we have?" Samantha asked. "I say some roast beef, with mac and cheese, and collard greens with rotini pasta and deviled eggs," Eva said, coming down the stairs. "Of course, you would already have dinner planned out," I said sarcastically. "Well, yeah, cause I'm excited for dinner and this new year.
"Don't we still have to do stupid training today?" Samantha asked. "I hope not. I'll ask everyone if we do and see," Eva said, texting. Everyone else started waking up and eating breakfast. "Sashi texted back saying that there was a camp that her scouts found, but she said we can hold it off until tomorrow if it's okay. "Nah, let's get it down now," Tyler said. Cubbie called Sashi. "Hello?" Sashi said. Surprised, we were calling her. We're going to that camp. And with the information I have, I think we should do this," Jacqueline told her. "What information?" Sashi asked. "The guns I tracked back to a location hidden in a forest. Is this the same camp?" She asked Sashi. Our locations match. We may finally have a lead on all of this. I'm coming with you all. Meet me here since it should be out of sight of everything," Sashi said before ending the call. "I'm staying here so I can help Samantha cook dinner," Chris said. "I'll stay too," I told him, but Chris shook his head no. "I got the cook and won't burn anything down. You go have fun with this," Chris told me. "Fine," I said, rolling my eyes. Chris gave me a kiss, which cheered me up. "Who will all be doing this?" Eva asked. "Tyler, Me, Jacqueline, and Chloe," I said. "You sure you don't need any air support?" Leona asked. "We should be fine, just be on standby just in case," I told her, cleaning up and getting ready.
Tyler, Jacqueline, Chloe, and I flew out to meet up with Sashi. Once we touched down, we made sure to stay out of sight. "All the way out here? Why?" Tyler asked. "'Cause it's very hidden," Sashi told us. "Also, the fact that this is a camp and not a small base is strange. You think it would have been safer." Jacqueline said. "Also, I'm feeling that strange energy again. I know exactly where it's coming from," Jacqueline said, pointing to a crate that's sticking out of the ground a little bit. We then noticed people guarding the camp, but they looked off. "Completely converted to darkness. When they die and are brought back, they are just slaves. Let's put them to rest," Jacqueline said, pulling out her sword. We all went into the camp and took them all out without alerting anyone else.
"I'll open the crate," Jacqueline said, trying to open it but noticing something was wrong with it. "Shit," She said. "What's wrong?" Tyler asked. "It was a booby trap," She said as we heard something moving through the trees and was approaching us quickly. We then heard a roar and promptly got down as a wyvern quickly flew past us and landed next to us. The wyvern then clocked itself and disappeared. "Tuya, we have a problem," Sashi said. "What is it?" Tuya asked over the coms. "We got a wyvern," Tyler said. "What does it look like?" Tuya asked. "Ummm..well, here's a long list. The wings are large, leathery, and feature a vibrant, iridescent pattern of green, yellow, and blue that mimics the colors of jungle foliage. The edges of the wings are lined with small, feather-like spines that help them glide silently through the dense jungle. The body is covered in scales that resemble tree bark or moss, with an almost camouflaged, mottled pattern that helps the wyvern blend into the jungle canopy. The tail is a long, whip-like structure, ending in a fan-shaped fin that aids in navigation and balance during flight. The tail can also be used as a weapon, with barbed spines that can inject venom into a target. The head is sleek and elongated, with glowing amber eyes, adapted for sharp vision in dim or murky light. The wyvern's jaws are filled with small but sharp teeth, used to grab prey or tear through dense plant life. Its nose is slightly flattened to help push through thick foliage as it flies. Oh, and also this damn thing just clocked itself," Tyler thoroughly explained. "Never heard of this one before. I'll be out there as quickly as I can, but take it down the best you can. If it's clocked, it will make noise around those trees. Listen carefully for it," Tuya told us before getting off the coms.
