SHADES OF PINK

Most women in this generation                        Tend to forget that sisterhood is a mission
Talking ‘bout women empowerment
Yet putting one another in resentment

I used to be terrified of women smiling in front of me
Lost in the beliefs of mean girls I’ve seen in a movie
If it isn’t my best friend – I dare not trust any
I’ve seen them laugh at someone’s flaws and the pain they carry

Perhaps, that’s the reason why I only have two -
The best sisters I knew
Wanting to fit in slipped into my mind
But genuine friendship is not easy to find

Twenty- one years in this universe so good
And I’ve kept the best people since childhood
Quantity over quality as it should
The memories we made together is just a mood

Having a couple of friends is not the same as having a sister
Might not be by blood but I can’t help but wonder
Some women are just the definition of true gentleness
A Dianthus flower – absentmindedly flaunting its sweetness

She reminds me of cherry blossom hence I wrote this poem as a witness
She’s the color that screams innocence and kindness
The shade that I’ll care to scrutinize deeply in fondness
She taught me that embracing the true essence of true femininity is not a weakness

I’m not good at observing but I was certain
A woman like her heals the broken
A broken soul drowning in insecurity
She embraced them and lifted them up cheerfully

She might not see the impact of her kindness to her neighbor
But God will keep on blessing her more and more
I hope she knew how grateful I am to know her
Yes, shades of pink is her favorite colour
