"Well, if you'll excuse us, we're going to go," Gavin says in a rush and starts to drag me away from the group.
"Going so soon?" Darren questions, a smirk playing on his cigarette induced mouth.
"Yeah..." Gavin trails off, obviously not knowing an excuse to get away from the group.
"I thought you were coming to the party tonight?" Chanel asks in her high, squeaky, voice. It's almost like nails on a chalkboard, maybe even worse.
"I don't really want to drive over there tonight," Gavin straightens his back as he spills the words.
There's something strange going on, but I can't quite pinpoint it. It's like Darren knows something that I don't, like he's hanging it over Gavin's head or something.
"You never come to his parties any more," Chanel frowns.
"Whose party?" I make the mistake of asking.
"Antonio's," Nick replies solemnly. He hasn't said anything this whole time, and I'm glad to know he's alright.
"Whose Antonio?" I'm pretty sure I would've heard of an Antonio being in our school. Then again, I only started going to this school a little while ago.
"Some kid that has been in our group for a while," Gavin answers. I look up at him, but his eyes are locked on Darren's.
"Can we go now?" I ask, I'm sick of the tension, all I want to do is get away from them. My first choice wouldn't be going home with Gavin, but I already told my brother I was going home with a friend and he'd wonder why I changed my mind if I called him.
"Yeah," he answers and we start walking away from the group.
"Maybe you can drop by later," Darren calls out, Gavin keeps moving.
"We'll see," he shouts back and we get to his car. I open the door for myself and hop in, wanting to get as far away from the three people as possible.
Gavin sticks the key into the ignition and the heat is turned on to warm my freezing hands.
The first few minutes are silent, me going over all the questions in my mind. I guess there's not really any good questions to ask considering he probably won't answer any of them.
The car is turned off, cutting the heat source and leaving me cold again. I'm not sure exactly why I agreed to come home with Gavin, it's not one of my best decisions, but since when have they been smart since I've met him?
Gavin sighs and opens his door, coming around to my side and helping me out. His car is just to high off the ground for a short girl like me.
Without uttering a single word to me he starts leading the way to the house.
"Where are your parents and brother?" I ask, I hadn't even thought about his parents and Richard being here.
"Parents are on some business trip until Sunday, and Richard is at the party," he doesn't even glance at me as we keep walking further into the house. Up the carpeted steps and into his room, that I've only been in once before. The memory of the last time I was here flashes in my mind and I blush a very unattractive shade of red.
Gavin doesn't seem to mind that I'm in the room when he changes out of his basketball jersey.
Please leave your shirt off. I plead and as of on cue he turns to face me.
Knowing I've been caught red handed staring at him, I blush even more, feeling obligated to look at the ground so he can't see my face.
"You blush a lot," he comments, I look up at him and notice a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. Is he making fun of me?
