"Bella!" I turn around to Gavin running up to me, still sweaty from his game that ended not even five minutes ago.
"What?" I groan. I'm in a pissy mood still because of what Devon had forbidden me to do earlier.
"What did you think of the game?" He asks, out of breath. Hmm, what did I think of the game?
"You were all right, I guess," I yawn. I smirk when his face falls.
"Oh yeah, and you can do so much better," he scoffs. Actually, believe it or not, at my old school I was on varsity freshman year. Now maybe that's because our school didn't have the best athletes, but it still counts.
"Actually, yes I can," I challenge him with my eyes narrowed.
"Wanna bet?" He smirks. A bet? I never back down from a challenge. If anything bets are my life. I know, I'm probably going to grow up to be a gambler blah blah blah, live in the moment dawg.
"Sure, if you lose," I tap my chin for effect, "you have to carry my books to all my classes, a slave let's say."
"Okay," he snorts, "and if you lose, you have to go on a date with me." Whoa! Okay, I was okay with the bet when it was harmless fun. This is to far.
"I don't know..." I trail off.
"What? Are you scared that I'll win?" He teases. Oh hell naw.
"It's on Johnson," I hold out my hand.
"Deal," Gavin places his hand in mine, we shake them together and our eyes never leave one another's.
"When and where?"
"Tomorrow, at lunch, meet me on the court," he smirks down at me.
"Sounds good," we're still shaking hands. It's kind of weird. Though I can't help but notice how good his hands feel on my own- shut up Bella!
"Bring your A game, Duffy," he challenges and that's when he turns to walk away.
"I always do!" I call after him. This is going to be fun.

Currently I'm waiting in the gym with Tammy and Hailey, for Gavin who is ten minutes late. Maybe he's backing out."Are you sure this is where your supposed to meet him?" Tammy asks.
"Yeah, that's what he said at least," I tell them. Not even a second later Gavin burst though the door, but thats not all. No! No, he brought the whole school with him.
I can guarantee my jaw hit the ground.
"Close your mouth, sweetheart, your going to catch flies," Gavin says from behind me, I clamp my mouth shut and turn around to face him.
"What's this?" I ask, gesturing to the whole student body.
"What does it look like? Their our audience," Gavin smirks. Grabbing a microphone he turns towards the crowd. "As you all know, I'm Gavin Johnson, and this is Bella Duffy. You see, Bella thinks she can beat me in a game of basketball. So we made a little bet," he smirks at me, "if I win she has to go on a date with me, and if she wins I have to be her slave."
The crowd erupts in cheers. Looking through the the student body I spot my brother shaking his head.
"Let's get started!" Gavin shouts into the microphone. I'm wearing my old schools uniform. When your on the varsity you have to purchase your own uniform, so that is why I'm wearing this.
Both of us walk to the middle of the court and Andrew, Gavin's best friend, is the referee.
"You all know the rules. It's a one on one match," Andrew tells us. No dip, of course I know how you fucking play basketball.
Andrew blows his whistle, and throwing the ball in the air between Gavin and I. I'm at a disadvantage, Gavin's taller than me, easily towering over me. Though, I'm short I am also fast.
As you know, it's Gavin's ball first.
"You ready to lose, Duffy?" Gavin challenges while dribbling the ball.
"No, the question is, are you ready to lose, Johnson?" I smirk, using how short and fast I am, I easily swipe the ball out of Gavin's hands and run down the court towards the hoop. The crowd cheers as I go up and make my layup, Gavin shortly joins me.
"I must say, your very sneaky," Gavin chuckles.
"I get that a lot," I tell him.
"To bad I know your game," he says, taking the ball out o my hands and starting at the half court line. "Change."
Gavin passes the ball to me and I pass it back. Gavin dribbles the ball for a while before zooming around me and towards the basket, luckily I'm faster than he is and I easily catch up, guarding him.
Gavin's smirks down at me, due to this I'm easily able to steal the ball once again, running towards the half court line and towards the basket again. Gavin's caught me by the free throw line so I take my chance to shoot the ball. It's a swish!
The crowd erupts in cheers on my behalf, this doesn't seem to faze Gavin though.
By the end of eight minutes Gavin's made sixteen points with me at eighteen. He's slowly catching up to me but I'm not that worried.
"Five minute break," Andrew tells us. I head over to the bench with Hailey and Tammy sitting down.
"Here's your water," Tammy says and hands me my water bottle. I chug down half while Tammy and Hailey talk amongst themselves.
"Your doing really good," Hailey praises.
"Thanks," I smile at them. I'm not sure how this is going to turn out. We decided on two eight minute quarters, so this is our last one. If I don't win then I have to go on a date with Gavin the Player Johnson, and if I win, than he's my slave. More or less.
Andrew blows his whistle, him and that damned whistle. "Come on!"
"Geesh," I mutter and begin to walk back to the half court line. I'm in possession of the ball first.
"It's now or never, Bella," Gavin whispers in my ear, his chest pressed to my back. An involuntary shiver runs down my spine.
"Don't flatter yourself, Gavin," I spit and he chuckles lowly. Oh god.
"I don't have to," Gavin takes his place in front of me and we change. The first seven minutes go by fast, I'm still in the lead by two. Not much, but I'm still winning.
"Let's do this," I mumble to myself as the clock starts ticking down. There's forty seconds left and I currently have possession. Thirty-nine....thirty-eight....thirty-seven. I stray heading towards the basket. Everything seems to be going in slow motion, I'm dribbling towards the basket, Gavin hot on my tail. The clock ticks down to twenty seconds and Gavin steals the ball when I wasn't paying attention.
Gavin runs back to the half court line, I'm close to him, pressing. Ten...nine...eight...seven...six, the clock ticks down. Gavin's already picked up the ball so his only option is to shoot. On one second left he shoots the ball, the buzzer beeps and the ball heads straight for the basket, swirling around the rim before falling in.
The crowd stands up, erupting in cheers. I can't believe I just lost. I have to go on a date with the player. Oh hell.
"I'll pick you up at six," Gavin tells me, placing his soft lips on mine for a second before running towards his friends.
What the hell? Did I just make a deal with the devil?
Did he just kiss me?
That was a long wait, but I am back now and ready to write my heart out. Hope you like the chapter. It's a little longer.
Enjoy.
