My alarm goes off at five-thirty, as usual and I rub the sleep from my eyes with the back of my hand. I feel much more tired than I usually do, and the only logical explanation would be because I didn't get off the phone until a little after ten with Rosalie. I think I ended up falling asleep around midnight from my usual nine-thirty routine.

On top of that, I never heard Devon come home last night, so I don't know if he's even here. If he isn't, I'm screwed because he's my ride to school. My only ride.

Finishing off my morning routine by putting the final touches on my make up, I grab my bag and my phone off the charger before heading down stairs.

"Hey, what time did you get home?" I ask, finding Devon at the table. My mom appears to still be sleeping due to her late night shift at the hospital last night.

"One," His voice is nonchalant. Like one o'clock in the morning isn't a little late to be out on a school night.

"Where'd you even go?" I ask.

I grab a bowl out of the cupboard and poor Frosted Flakes, adding milk before sitting across from Devon.

"A friends," His cheeks turn lightly pink at the mention of this "friend". I wonder why - wait a minute.

"Oh my god!" I yell and jump up from my seat. My outburst startles Devon and he glares at me, having spilled cereal on his shirt.

""Oh my god!'" What?" He asks with a 'confused' and pissed off expression.

"Are you gay?" I nearly scream. His face goes a deep shade of red and I almost flip a bitch right there and then. How could he not tell me-

"What? No!" He shouts even louder than I did. Oh.

"I just...when I mentioned where you were your cheeks got slightly pink. So I thought you meant a guy friend," I wipe my hand across my forehead as if sweat was collecting there, which there is.

It's like I would care if he were gay or not, I can't judge someone on the preferences they have. Besides, nothing is wrong with liking the same gender, he kind of just freaked me out for a moment. I know we haven't talked much in the past few years, but if he were to tell me anything, I'd think it would be that.

I sit back down and begin to eat my cereal once again.

"Your so stupid," He grumbles and I scowl. Whatever.

We finish our breakfast in silence and then head out to Devon's car. That's after the fact that he had to change his shirt due to my outburst. I apologized profusely, but he still is a bit salty about it.

"Sorry I freaked out like that," I once again apologize. He turns to me and sends me a quick glare before focusing back on the rode. "'It's okay Bella, I forgive you for freaking out on me.'"

"It's okay Bella, I forgive you for freaking out on me." He tries not to smile after my deepened version of his forgiveness. I slap his arm and he chuckles.

"Dick," I mutter under my breath.

We pull into the school parking lot not a minute later and find the first spot available before turning in.
Once my feet hit the pavement, Devon comes over to my side, slinging an arm over my shoulder.

"Sorry, I left you alone last night," He smiles shyly.

"It's fine. It's really not that big of a deal. I didn't do much anyway," I elbow him softly in the ribs and he grins down at me.

"Good. I just felt kind of bad for leaving you home alone that long," He rubs the back of his neck with his free hand.

"Kind of?" I smirk. We get to his group of friends and they all greet me, leaving Devon out of the picture.
