So I tried to find a guy version, but the only one I could find was Bryan Adam's. He has a smooth voice and all, but I like it better since it's sounds more modern.
Oh, I forgot to add a flashback in the last chapter, and since it's one of the main points of this book, I made sure to add one in. You don't have to go back to read it, but if you want to, go ahead.
I updated my Jack Johnson fanfic too so go read that, because that's the book I'm going to be writing when I'm done with this one!
But let me just say, I'm really sorry for this chapter.

"And the final act to make it through to the finals is," Nick paused, adding a sense of dramatics. Honestly, all I wanted to do was go up to him, and shake him until he just says it without all these stupid pauses. Ivy had already made it through, and by all means, I was happy for her. I just really wanted me and Jack to at least perform in the finals. "Jack and Elena!" he called and I froze.
Did he really call us? Was I dreaming?
All of a sudden, Jack picked me up and twirled me around. "Ellie, we did it!" he yelled in my ear.
I didn't even care that he could have possibly ruined my eardrums. I was just so ecstatic that our names were the names that left his mouth. We could have a shot again at our dreams. I smiled, and giddily laughed as he kept on spinning me around. "Yes, we did," I whispered, as he finally set me back down again.
I glanced at the boy who ended up not making it. He looked so heartbroken, and it seemed as if he was trying his hardest not to cry. He was still sporting a smile on his face while clapping for us, and that made my heart churn for him. He was so young, yet he knew how to be mature about the situation.
I walked over to him, and told him, "Hey Luke, winning this competition might not mean everything. Even if you did win, if you didn't have the potential to move on past the show, you wouldn't last. Kid," I placed my hand on the fifteen year old's shoulder. "if you keep pushing yourself, you will make it. It doesn't matter if you were fourth place on this show. If you keep striving for your dreams, you will make it." I squeezed his shoulder, hoping to give him some form of comfort. "Never give up."
He sniffled, and looked up at me. "Thanks," he spoke softly, "and you and Jack deserve it. I'm rooting for you guys."
I suddenly pulled him into a hug, which he returned. "I'll keep my eye out for you, and wait for the day you release your first album. I'll support you every step of the way."
He bit his lip and said, "I've never had anyone believe in my music that much. I'll be there to support you too."
I smiled at him, and I could see a small smile itching its way on his face. I realized how much he reminded me of Matt, and maybe that's why I wanted him to make it in the music industry so bad. He has a lot of passion, under his tough exterior, just like Matt did.
I gave him one last squeeze on the shoulder, before looking around for Jack. I searched around the stage, but I couldn't find him anywhere. I began to wonder where he was. I felt a pain of hurt course through me that he didn't even wait for me to celebrate us making it in the finals. He just left me, without even telling me too.
I walked backstage, and I saw the back of a girl who looked oddly familiar. I squinted my eyes to look her her closely, and my mind registered the girl's hair. I would recognize the color of her hair and the lusciousness of it anywhere, because I used to envy it so much.
My gaze lifted over to a guy standing next to her. They seemed to be engaged in a very heated conversation. The guy was none other than Jack Gilinsky.
