Teqi rolled the cold metal between her fingers. She flicked it open and a flame sparked, then died when she capped the lighter again. Flick. Extinguish. Flick.
She tucked her knees underneath her chin and stared down at the pamphlets laid out before her, on the bench of the infirmary. Ready, theoretically, for her to set fire to and hold as they curled into ash.
But she couldn't bring herself to, she only reread the words that apparently, lived in her head before she knew the names of them.
It was all so silly, anyway, Asclepius had no right to make her doubt herself, and make her skin crawl with all these generically supportive messages in calming colours. Like they were supposed to just stop her from being off the rails, or loose screws, or whatever saying she'd probably used as an insult herself before all of... this.
Extinguish. Flick.
She glanced over her shoulder at Jason's still silhouette, underneath the scratchy white infirmary blankets. Teqi had been put on 'watch Jason duty' while everyone else prepped. He hadn't moved.
Extinguish. Sitting on the bench was giving her cramps in her foot, but she opened the first of her 'reading material,' and gave in.
Conduct disorder (CD) refers to a set of problem behaviours exhibited by children and adolescents, which may involve the violation of a person, their rights or their property. It is characterised by aggression and, sometimes, law-breaking activities.
Teqi flipped the page, scrunching her brows. What did Asclepius know? He was only the God of medicine and healing.
She skimmed the list of dot points. How was her life supposed to be represented by a few little words of things she may or may not have done? Sure, she had 'learning difficulties', it was built into her, just like any other Demigod.
But she felt empathy, she'd certainly never been aggressive to animals, she wasn't... she wasn't a serial killer in training.
spiteful and vengeful behaviour
being aggressive to people, and a keenness to start physical fights
tendency to use drugs, including tobacco and alcohol, at a very early age
Her sight blurred.
tendency to hang out in gangs
She sniffled, rubbing at her face aggressively. What even counted as a gang. Her shoes kicked the paper to the ground and she ripped open the next one, wanting to- needing to find something to prove it wrong.
She knew she was a bit stranger; she was... what had she called it, messy in the head. She wasn't insane.
Typical symptoms include problems with concentration and memory. The person may report feeling 'spacey' or out of control.
Teqi wiped her eyes quickly as someone came in. Being overly alert or 'wound up'. She dropped the pamphlet and blinked a few times, sucking air in and trying for a smile that felt like bared teeth. Negative changes in feelings and thoughts, such as feeling angry.
