"Okay," Ginny said seriously. "Now do your pinky dark green."

Teqi nodded, and dipped the brush into the little pot. She painted her pinky finger dark green, leaving little splotches of nail polish all over her floorboards. It was a messy process with hands as shaky as hers. "What colour are you doing?"

Ginny scoffed. "Dark green, obviously, we're matching. Anyway, so then Drew was telling Connor about how everyone from her cabin can like, instantly tell if people are in love, and he freaked out-"

The door to her room opened with a bang.

"And then Malcom found out so he refused to leave his cabin, and he told-"

Leo stood in the doorway, stuffing bandages and little water bottles into his toolbelt. His hair was wet from the shower and curlier then usual. He motioned upwards, to the deck. They were heading off soon, she guessed.

"Who's there?" Gunny asked, squashing her face against the Iris Message, like she might be able to fall through and see what was happening.

Teqi flapped her hands so they'd dry in time. "A roman, you don't know-"

"It's Leo, isn't it!"

"Hi Gin," Leo said, coming over immediately. Betrayal. "What's up?"

She sighed. At least she'd tried. Teqi was homesick and all, debilitatingly so most of the time, but at least her family wasn't there to see her boyfriend. It was embarrassing enough that everyone already knew she liked the boy, she didn't want them all to the see the two of them even standing next to each other.

"Everyone's scared of cabin ten now," her little sister said, the butterfly clips in her dark hair loosening and slipping further down every time she moved her little head.

"Fair enough," Leo said, and put his hands on Teqi's shoulder to bend down into view. Teqi felt her face heat up instantly. Leo didn't notice. "I took too long in the shower and Piper tried to strangle me with the shower curtain."

Teqi cleared her throat, now flapping her hands only mostly so they'd dry. "Uh, Ginny, what happened at the end of your story?"

She stared blankly. They'd been talking for hours, since the sun rose really, and she hadn't found a point in her rambling yet. "Oh! Me and Lacy stole icey poles from the camp store cause no one wants to tell her off."

Teqi had listened to hours of gossip and circles of plot just to get to that conclusion?

She supposed the readers were going to be feeling the same way at the end of this story, so she shouldn't really complain.

"We have to go now," she said. "But I'll call you later. Tell Will that, too, will you?"

Ginny gasped, a grin spreading across her face. "Are you gonna go kiss?"

"Actually, we're gonna go defeat the goddess of victory," Leo said cheerily, "but I'll keep that in mind."

They hung up, and Teqi packed away her things, rifling through her messy chest of drawers for a change of clothes. She didn't feel like wearing a camp shirt, and the rest of her clothes made her wrinkle her nose.
