Yolanda was nervous as the winter holidays came to an end, since she was worried about how much bullying she and Amelia would no doubt receive now that they were together, since as far as she knew, Ameila had never been out at school and she doubted that she was prepared for how cruel their classmates could be. Sure she'd seen it from how the bullies treated Yolanda before she and Artemis put a stop to it, since as the top cheerleaders in school, they had the power to do that, but Ameila had never experienced it first hand.
Not to mention this could also affect Artemis's position, since the biggest bitch in the school Taylor had her eyes on Artemis's spot as captain of the cheer squad and most popular girl in school and having a poor lesbian foster sister was likely to do it.
"Don't worry about it." Artemis said to Yolanda as the limo they were in dropped them off at school.
"Worry about what?" Yolanda asked and Artemis rolled her eyes.
"It's written all over your face. I know you're worried about how our classmates will react to you and Amelia being out." Artemis said.
"Am I that obvious?" Yolanda asked.
"Yes. But you're worrying about nothing. Anyone who messes with you messes with me and we both know that no one messes with me." Artemis said, since while she wasn't a mean girl, she did know how to throw her weight as cheer captain when she needed to, since that was the only time she wasn't afraid to tap into her father's side.
"I hope you're right. But Amelia's never had to deal with the prejudices of the less evolved students of this class. At least not like I have." Yolanda said.
"You'd think being the daughter of the richest power couple in the city would get you some street cred." Artemis said.
"It's because I don't dress like it." Yolanda said, since she and Artemis both dressed rather casually considering the wealth they had, since neither wanted to become spoiled, nor would their parents allow it.
"Maybe, but still, it's pathetic." Artemis said as they entered the school, right as Yolanda noticed the poster for student council elections.
"You thinking about running again?" Yolanda asked, since Artemis had been their class president last year.
"No. I have too much on my plate between school, homework, cheerleading practice, preparing for college admissions and the other thing." Artemis said, referring to their vigilante work.
"Too bad. We could use someone who isn't a bigot as president." Yolanda said.
"Well, you could run." Artemis said.
"And you really think anyone in this school would vote for me? Without mom or dad having to buy the election? No one would vote for an unpopular kid like me." Yolanda said.
"Not with that attitude. Yolanda, I think you'd make a great student council president and I'll even be your campaign manager to help you do it. I mean if we can take on weapons smugglers, we can make you student council president. Besides, I'm sure Oliver will give you advice since he's running for mayor." Artemis said.
"You're not going to drop it until I say yes are you?" Yolanda asked with a slight smile.
"Why ask a question that you clearly already know the answer to?" Artemis asked with a smile herself as Amelia joined them and wrapped her arm around her girlfriend.
"What are you talking about?" Amelia asked.
"Convincing Yolanda to run for student council president." Artemis said.
"Really, that'd be great. I could date a president." Amelia said.
"Hang on, I still need to enter the race, let alone win." Yolanda said.
"And you will." Artemis said, only to hear a scoff.
"Please, this dork? I doubt it. Not when the entire school worships me." Taylor said.
"Yeah right. You know that both Ameila and I outrank you on the pyramid since I'm captain and Amelia is my second-in-command and that's not changing anytime soon. Now get moving." Artemis said, once again reminding Taylor where she stood on the social pyramid.
"This isn't over. And once I win the election, I'll see if I can convince the coach to make some other changes." Taylor said.
"Good luck with that." Ameila said, knowing that Taylor wanted to put them both beneath her on the school's popularity ladder and she was dreaming if she thought that was going to happen, since both she and Artemis were better athletes than Taylor and they already had college scouts sniffing around them.
