"I see you brought back a stray from Los Angeles." Kase said when Constantine and Abby returned from LA with Maze.
"Good to see you again too, Kase." Maze said sarcastically.
"You two know each other?" Abby asked.
"We met a few years ago when I was doing a job in LA and that's all I'm going to say about that." Kase said.
"And the story ends with her waking up in bed alone because I ditched her after a nice night together, after I convinced her not to piss off Lucifer by sending me back to hell." Maze said.
"You slept with a demon?" Abby asked her in surprise.
"You slept with Constantine. From what I hear, that's a worse sin." Kase said.
"Wasn't judging, just surprised, since you're right, after I broke up with him, I spent two days showering in holy water." Abby admitted, just to mess with Constantine, who just rolled his eyes at that.
"Anyways, did the rest of you get what we needed?" Constantine asked.
"Yep. We have all the ingredients, but who's going to perform the spell?" Jim asked.
"I am. I'm the only one who can pull off Enochian magic without risking my soul." Abby said, still trying to wrap her head around the bomb Lucifer had dropped on her in LA.
"You sure you can handle it?" Chas asked.
"If what the Devil told us in LA is true, she's the only one here who can." Constantine said.
"You think the Devil told the truth?" Annie asked.
"Contrary to popular belief, Lucifer never lies. He always tells the truth. But since people often don't like the truths he says, they call them lies." Maze said.
"Really?" Abby asked.
"He's a dick, but he doesn't lie." Maze said.
"What did he say?" Chas asked.
"He said that the reason my magic is so strong is because I'm not completely human." Abby said.
"Meaning?" Annie asked.
"According to him, I'm a nephilim. Half human, half angel and not just a regular angel, the Archangel Aurora, since apparently there were six archangels, not just five." Abby said.
"I've heard of Aurora, the archangel of peace, but I wasn't sure if she was real or myth." Annie said.
"Yeah, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea that my mom's a literal angel, so for now, can we please focus on this ritual to save Astra and then after that, I'll start trying to process the fact that my mom is one of the most powerful entities in all of creation." Abby said.
"Then let's get this over with so we can all go back to our lives." Chas said as they handed the ingredients for the spell to Abby before taking positions in a circle as Abby summoned her Eclipse gear and mixed the ingredients together and started chanting the spell in Enochian, causing both the scroll and the ingredients to glow and Abby noticed that she did too.
In fact, the further into the ritual she got, the more intense the heat and glow became and she began to wonder if she could do this, especially as holy fire erupted around all of them and actually connected them in the form of pentagram and Abby could actually feel her soul burning up.
I can't do this. The spell is going to kill me. Abby thought, only to hear another voice in her head.
Yes you can do this Abby. Channel your angelic side. Embrace your true heritage and channel your true power. She heard a woman's voice say in her head and Abby somehow knew who it was. Her mother. Aurora, the archangel. And that was when Abby knew it was true. She was a nephilim and if she wanted to survive this spell, she had to embrace it. She closed her eyes as she continued the spell, since the thing about Enochian was that once you started chanting it, you couldn't stop.
She looked deep inside herself and tried to find that bit of angelic light inside her and the second she found it, it was like opening up a chest and as soon as it was open, she immediately felt something change inside her as Abby felt wings begin to appear on her back and her outfit begin to change as the power inside her grew and the burning sensation began to die down as she reached the end of the spell, at which point she realized that she was actually flying due to her new wings as the fire died down to reveal a pile of bones.
"It worked." Abby said as she figured out how to land.
"Yep. And now that we have a little extra angelic firepower to help us." Constantine said, since Abby's Eclipse gear had been replaced by what he recognized as bright white angel armor.
"Then let's summon the demon." Abby said.
