Allison was walking around the Bell Centre with Sam by her side. They had been hanging together the entire time. Allison had been hanging out with the entire team, but she was still attempting to avoid Connor. She had done pretty well.
The United States was playing Finland currently. The Canadian boys were in their suite. Well some were. Others chose to nap or what not. Allison was there because of her tickets so Sam decided to hang out with her.
"Do you wanna sit in the suite for our game?" He asked as they waited in line for the concession stand. "A few of the families will be there."
She shrugged. "I don't really wanna impose."
"You won't." He reassured her.
So she sat in the suite. It was the first game of the tournament. The guys were warming up and families were starting to arrive. She recognized the Fabbris and greeted them. She met them through Connor.
They introduced her to many families. She met the Reinharts, who had heard about her from Sam. She was blushing the entire time they talked to her about all Sam had said. She excused herself with ten minutes left for warm ups. She needed to pee.
She came back at a terrible time. She heard Brian McDavid's all too familiar laugh. It was the same as Connor's, that's why she knew it. She saw Cam and Kelly standing there as well.
She took a deep breath and made her way to the suite. Cam looked up from his phone. A smile spread across his face. She smiled back. Kelly spun around, smiling. Time for things to get awkward.
"My god, look at you." Kelly exclaimed, holding Allison's face. "It's been three months and you already look so much older."
"You don't look a day over twenty five." Allison beamed.
"How are you? I don't get updates from Connor anymore because he doesn't get them either." Kelly shook her head at her son.
"I'm great. How are all of you?" Allison asked, smiling at all three McDavids.
"Hungover." Cam shrugged.
Kelly smacked his arm. "I am fantastic." She grinned.
"I'm good as well. Nothing better than seeing your boy play for his country." Brian said, smiling.
Allison loved Connor's family. They were all so supportive of him. The four made their way into the suite. She sat between Theresa Reinhart and Cam. Cam kept whispering things to Allison to make her laugh. She did. She was also texting Kara about how crazy this was.
Canada won eight to nothing. The families went down to the change rooms. Allison was invited along. Sam came out and walked over to his parents smiling. They both hugged him. They talked for a bit. Allison didn't mind waiting for him to finish.
Connor came out. He hugged his family. Cam said something, pointing over to Allison. She tensed up but looked to her phone. She didn't want to be talked about. She heard someone clear their throat. Connor was in front of her in his suit.
"Hey." He exhaled.
"Hey." She smiled. Then she hugged him. That took them both by surprise. "I'm proud of you."
"Thank you." He smiled a bit. "And thank you for not telling my parents I cheated on you."
They pulled apart.
She nodded. "I don't actually hate you. I'm not even really mad anymore."
"I still really fucked up." He sighed.
She patted his shoulder. "Go see your folks."
He nodded then walked off.
Sam came over to her after. He lifted her in a hug. She laughed a bit into it. That worried her. Sam was really into her and she didn't know if she was looking for that. He was a great guy but Allison had only came to get back at Connor. She hadn't slept with Sam yet. They hadn't even kissed. She knew Sam was a good guy. She didn't really want to just use him.
The next game was against Germany. A four to nothing win. Allison sat beside Sam at dinner, leaning into him. Max was smirking at them. Sam was his roommate and he knew Sam wanted Allison.
The third game was against Finland. Canada won four to one. Sam scored two goals. Allison kissed him when he came out of the change room. The guys all cheered for him. Besides Connor. Connor was frozen. Robby squeezed his shoulder. Poor guy.
Canada beat the Americans five to three. The game was a mess. It was really back and forth. Sam set up two goals and scored one. Connor didn't do much. He assisted a goal. That made him hard on himself.
It made sense to him why Allison chose Sam. He didn't choke on international ice. He was a better player than Connor. He had already been drafted, and was older.
But that wasn't really it. Allison didn't even mean to be interested in Sam. She just wanted to get back at Connor and now she was caught up in her feelings.
