Allison understood why she cried when she went to the airport with Connor now. It fucking sucked watching someone go. But she wasn't the one crying this time. Kara was.
Kara was at the airport with Allison's mom, sister, and grandma. The four that weren't moving to Edmonton were crying. Allison was teary eyed, but wasn't the way they were. She hugged them all when her flight was called.
"London has an international airport if we ever really miss each other." Allison smiled at Kara.
Kara laughed, wiping her eyes. "I hope you fight Connor." She whispered.
Allison nodded. "I hope you fight Mitch." She smirked.
Allison boarded and then she was gone. Kara would be leaving for London the next night. They were both moving on with their lives and it was a big deal.
Allison took a cab to her dorm when she landed. She had two roommates that she would be meeting. She was nervous. She wasn't easily liked. She got to campus and unloaded the cab before she paid him. He drove away and she was left with all her things. There was a lot.
"Fuck me." She huffed.
"Could you use a hand?" A male asked.
"Uh, I don't want to bother any-"
"I'm offering. I'm Wil." He extended his hand to her.
"I'm Allison." She shook his hand. "This is literally my first day."
"Aw, freshman." He smiled, grabbing more than half her things. "I'm only a sophomore."
"Are you from the area?" She asked, carrying her things along side him.
"More or less. What about you?" He held a door open.
"Ontario." She huffed. "I'm a little lost."
He chuckled. "We'll take care of you here. What room?"
"Uhhh, I forgot." Allison growled. "My name is on the whiteboard."
"Allison, Veronica, and Phoebe?" Wil read.
"That's me." Allison took a deep breath.
Wil knocked twice. A tall girl with glasses and dark hair opened the door. She smiled at them. Wil explained what was going on and carried Allison's things in. Allison followed him. There was a bed for her to the side. They threw all her things on it. She turned and smiled at Wil.
"Thanks for your help." She extended her hand to shake it again.
He placed his phone in her hand. "Add your number in case you need my help again." He smirked.
Allison felt her face flush as she did as he asked. "Okay, done." She handed him his phone back. "Make sure you text me so I can save your number."
"Absolutely. I'll see you around." He winked before he walked out.
"Okay, wow." The girl cooed. "Wil Tomchuk is so into you."
"I just met him out front." Allison laughed. "Are you Phoebe or Veronica?"
"Veronica." She extended her hand. "Phoebe hasn't come yet."
Allison shook her hand. "Nice to meet you."
"Do you like hockey?" Veronica shot.
"Yeah, a lot." Allison smiled.
"Oh, we are going to get along well." Veronica smiled.
Phoebe came a half hour later. All the girls got acquainted before Phoebe suggested them going out. They agreed. Allison was having fun until it was suggested they went to the Oilers split squad game. Bad idea. Allison didn't want to ruin their fun though so they went. It was all okay until Veronica wanted to sit right at the glass.
Connor couldn't believe it. Allison was sitting between two girls with a 'University of Alberta' sweater on. She lied to him. He saw that she knew she was caught too.
She kept her head down when he was around. He was definitely going to confront her. He tossed a puck to one of the girls. He winked at Allison as he skated over to his team.
Allison's heart was racing. Phoebe was laughing about the puck. Why the hell would Connor do that? Allison smiled along with her new friends. She needed to tell them about him before he tried to go for one of them. She turned to tell them but the announcer spoke above them. Allison decided she'd try after.
It was intermission when she finally got her chance. She told them everything. She even showed photos to keep them from not believing her. Veronica was at a loss for words. Phoebe handed the puck back to Allison. Allison just laughed before the teams took the ice again. Connor skated back over. He told Phoebe to come to the change rooms after. She gave him a thumbs up.
"Is that gonna be awkward?" Phoebe asked.
Allison shook her head. "No. This is what he wants."
The game ended. Connor's team won. The three girls stood to the side, waiting for him. He was a hot commodity. They were going to be waiting for a bit.
Allison was used to this. She sat on her phone while the other two became impatient. She looked up right as Connor came over to them. She locked her phone then slid it in her pocket.
"Did you girls enjoy the game?" He smiled as he stopped in front of them.
"It's always good to see you play." Veronica smiled.
He chuckled. "What are your names, ladies?"
Allison started to laugh. "Are you gonna pull me to the side and yell at me soon, or what?" She crossed her arms.
"I could do it right here." He shrugged. "Why did you lie to me about you moving here?"
"Because I needed to focus on my school work instead of being consumed by whatever drama you'd bring my way." She hissed.
"You could've said that instead of ly-"
"You never listen to anything I say. There was no use." She rolled her eyes. "You focus on hockey, I'll focus on my degree. Good luck, Connor."
She patted his shoulder then walked away. She thought hearing him call after her would make her feel great, but it wasn't. She felt like someone was pushing on her chest. She felt like she was about to cry.
She smiled at the girls when they came her way. She couldn't cry in front of them. Especially when she had just praised how over him she was to them. She just smiled while walking out of the arena with them.
