Connor woke up to someone swearing. He looked around and saw his phone next to his head. He unplugged it and saw his FaceTime call with Dylan was still on. They had switched from a normal call to FaceTime shortly after Connor finished crying.
"Did we stay on FaceTime all night?" Connor spoke.
There was shuffling before the call was taken off pause and Dylan's face popped onto the screen. He looked like he had been awake for a while. He made a disgusted face.
"No wonder Al left. You're not a nice face to wake up to." Dylan teased.
"Fuck you." Connor chuckled. "Why didn't you hang up when I passed out?"
Dylan shrugged. "You needed me."
Connor smiled a bit. "You're always there for me, Stromer. You're the best."
He rolled his eyes. "Save me the dramatics, Davo." He shook his head. "I texted Alli and she's ready to talk whenever you make the first move."
"Wow,"
"Yeah, yeah. You're welcome. I'll text you after practice." Dylan waved him off before he hung up.
Connor decided he'd give Allison the day and call her later that night.
Allison would've been fine with that if she knew he was doing that. She was sitting in the living room of Phoebe and Veronica's, having some girl time that she desperately needed. She was in sweats, make up free, hair in a bun, and blankets wrapped around her.
Alli didn't really know where her friends found this game. It was kind of like truth or dare without a choice. There was a deck of cards, some had things on them like texting an ex, and some had you talk about your experience. Some were for one person alone and some were for the group.
Veronica picked up a card. "From youngest to oldest, tell the story of losing your virginity." She read. "So, Phoebe."
Phoebe thought back. "I was seventeen and my friends and I went camping and I did it with some weird artistic guy in my friend's car. He just barely got the tip in." She shook her head.
"Mine was last year to some guy on the hockey team." Veronica shrugged.
"I lost mine before you?" Phoebe exclaimed.
"You knew that!" Veronica laughed. "Alli, when did you lose it?"
"I think it was like our third month of dating, and Connor had brought me to Malmo for World Juniors. I feel like it was coming because he was super happy about winning against Germany and we fooled around that night but didn't like, do it." She rambled.
"Get to the good stuff." Phoebe rushed.
Allison rolled her eyes. "It was New Year's Eve, they beat team USA three to two. He scored and was super excited about it, but we hadn't had any alone time since the game ended. So after going out with the team, we came home and he starts jumping on the bed about the game. I'm just beaming up at him because he's never been this excited, ever. I'm sure of it."
"Al, you're the worst at telling stories." Veronica growled.
"He just blurts out 'I love you', and then he keeps saying it. Then he just started kissing me, and we ended up getting completely naked, and like I know he's done this before so I'm so embarrassed, but he was so good with me. I remember I asked him if he was okay, like he wasn't the pro, and he just smiled and told me he'd never felt better in his entire life than he did at that moment. And all I could think was, yeah, this is the boy I want to lose it to." Alli finished.
"That's actually..." Veronica couldn't think of a word.
"Super sweet. Why the fuck aren't you with him right now?" Phoebe hissed, standing up.
Allison shrugged. "It's been rough."
"Yeah, you don't run when the going gets tough. You stick it out, especially if you're in love." Veronica lectured.
As if he knew, he texted Allison just then.
Connor McDonnor 💕
I miss you, I need you. Please come home.
She smiled a bit. "I think it's time I go home."
"Yeah, you've stayed beyond your welcome." Phoebe teased.
Allison packed her bag quickly. She got home and felt nervous. She took a deep breath as she slid her key in the lock and unlocked it. She walked inside and Connor was standing beside the couch, looking over at her. She broke into a smile. He ran over, pulling her into a hug. She held onto him tight.
"I'm sorry I'm so miserable. I'll be better." He spoke into her hair.
"I'm sorry I keep running when it gets hard. I'll stop, I promise." She kissed his jaw. "I love you, so much."
"I love you." He growled, squeezing her before he pulled back. "God, have I missed your face."
She scrunched her nose at him and he kissed it. He kissed her forehead too before he walked off to their room with her bag. She followed behind, crossing her arms in the doorway. He started unpacking for her, tossing the dirty items in their laundry basket. She just watched him.
"Hey, when does the make up sex come in?" She smirked, biting her lip.
He stood up straight, turning to look at her. "As soon as you strip and lay down on this bed." He instructed, pointing to the bed.
She giggled, pulling her shirt over her head as she walked over towards him.
They had their fun, lots of fun, and now they were just cuddled together in bed. He was laying on his side, an arm draped over her, while she was laying on her back. Her fingertips were trailing up and down his arm, slowly and softly. The blanket was resting low on his hips as he slept quietly. She just stared at him. At his body, thinking to herself.
Connor's body: shaped by hockey, just like one day, she thought, hockey will be re-shaped by him.
She saw the light pink hue in his cheeks. The light pink tint he always had, especially when he felt insecure or nervous. His eyes fluttered open, and she smiled down at him while he just stared at her. She didn't know how she ever ran from this beautiful boy. She thought more to herself.
Connor will always be this flushed, and he will always look at her with his hair falling in his face, and he will always know her inside and out, and he will always be this close.
She smiled at the thought, squeezing her eyes shut and cuddling into him. His eyes shut slowly, feeling more comfortable with her sleeping against him. His lips softly pressed to her head before he fell back to sleep.
