Being injured had very little perks. Connor couldn't skate, shoot, practice, or play. He couldn't even get dressed without being in pain, but he managed. He basically just sat around doing nothing. Well, he was with Allison if she wasn't busy. But he could tell she was getting sick of him. He'd be sick of himself too.
So you can imagine his excitement when he got the okay to start skating again. He was beyond ecstatic. He was able to drive his car again too. He let Alli use it whenever, but it was nice to drive his baby.
One perk to not being completely healed was that he could go home for Christmas. He and Allison were flying home together. She would go her way and he'd go his. He wondered if they'd spend any part of her break together. He didn't really need to be in Edmonton. He wanted to be with her.
He was thinking about all of this while sitting in Taylor's car. Taylor was driving them to the airport. Taylor was inside helping Allison with her things. Connor stayed in the car since Taylor wouldn't let him do much. He was miserable.
Allison came strolling out with just her carry on. Taylor had her suitcase behind him. Allison ran to the car, smiling at Connor. She pulled open the back door and hopped in.
"Good morning." She smiled, pecking Connor's cheek.
"Excited?" He chuckled.
She nodded. "I miss home and I love Christmas."
"I miss home too." He agreed.
The drive was pretty quiet. Allison was typing away on her phone. Probably to Kara. Connor kept looking at her in the rearview mirror. She was so beautiful that it made him hurt.
He let out a long sigh. Taylor noticed it. He tapped Connor's thigh. He gave him a small smile. Connor just frowned.
"Are you kids gonna hang out back home?" Taylor asked, glancing back at Allison.
Connor shrugged while Allison nodded. "Probably." He huffed.
"'Probably'? You're not gonna come to my house on Christmas Eve?" She frowned.
"I thought that was only a thing we did when we're-"
"No, it's for everyone I care about. I invited Dylan too but he won't be here." She told him. "You don't have to come if you don't wa-"
"Alli, I'd spend this entire break with you if you let me. I wanna come." He turned to face her.
She smiled at him. "Okay."
They got to the airport twenty minutes later. Taylor and Connor shook hands before Taylor handed Connor his bag. Allison hugged Taylor. She pulled a wrapped gift out of her carry on and handed it to Taylor. He smirked and hugged her again.
Allison took her suitcase and handed her carry on to Connor. He took it with a questioning expression. She grabbed his suitcase and wheeled both towards the airport.
"I could've wheeled that myself." He shook his head.
She stopped at the check in line, turning to face him. "I wanted to take it for you." She smiled and pecked his lips.
"Are you gonna come to my house for dinner?" He asked, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"If you want me to, I'll come after my grandma's." She told him.
"Do you want me to come to your grandma's?" He cocked a brow.
"She'll probably be annoying." She laughed. "Don't do it so you can save yourself."
"Are you gonna drive to my house?" He asked, following her forward in the line.
"Yeah, I can stay the night, right?" She gave him an innocent smile.
