A five to one win against Slovakia got the team to the gold medal game. Nic having a hat trick did the trick. After the team dinner, Sam and Allison went out by themselves. Connor went and moped in his room.
His roommate, Curtis Lazar, the always smiling guy, couldn't even cheer him up. Curtis didn't know what to do so he just let Connor rant.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" Curtis asked, chewing on his cheek.
"No." Connor stated.
"Okay." Curtis sighed, pulling out his phone.
"I just don't get what she sees in him! Sam isn't even that cute of a kid, right?" Connor snapped.
"I think he's a cute kid, he's got the whole puppy dog thing going for him." Curtis shrugged. "I'd date him."
"Not helping me at all." Connor hissed. "I was a good boyfriend, Lazer, I really was. I never talked to any other fucking girls and I was always doing the most I could with our circumstances. It's just fucking Lauren had to come back a-"
"You did it. Don't try to blame it on the girl." Curtis stopped him. "Maybe give Alli more time."
"So she can wind up married?" Connor snorted.
"So she can consider forgiving you." Curtis shook his head. "She still cares about you, but you're making it really hard for her to get past this."
"How?" Connor rolled his eyes.
"You aren't giving her any time to herself." Curtis growled, laying on his bed. "She needs to figure everything out, see where her feelings for you are at, and you might get another shot. Just let her get there."
Connor completely ignored his captain's advice.
He got wasted with some of the of age guys the next night and then went to Sam's room where Allison was. Sam let him in, not thinking Connor would do anything stupid.
Allison could tell he was drunk. She didn't want to help him but she couldn't stand him being the way he was. She was sitting on Sam's bed frowning.
"Alli," He choked out. "Alli, baby, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." He cried.
"It's okay, Connor." She sighed.
Sam came back with some water. "You okay, buddy?" He asked as he handed it to him.
"Allison always took good care of me." Connor gurgled back some water. "Reino, I need to tell you something. It's important."
"What's up, Davo?" Sam chuckled a bit, sitting on the stool near him.
"This beautiful girl right there," Connor said, pointing at Allison. "This beautiful girl is so important to me. I need to make sure you're treating her right."
"Connor,"
He shushed her. "Reino, you need to do all the things I'm about to tell you. It'll keep her the happiest she'll ever be."
"Lay it on me." Sam smiled.
"She's the most affectionate and caring person I've ever met, but she's a giant fuckin' kid. But it's cute on her." Connor was rambling. "Everything is cute on her. She'll want to be alone a lot because she gets sad, but she really needs you then. So be there. And remember that Kara will always mean the most to her."
Allison could feel her eyes watering. She didn't know how she was feeling. Mortified? Angry? Touched? Connor was drunk and saying all of this in front of the new guy she was seeing. It was sweet that he knew all this about her. He was just staring at her as he spoke. She looked over at Sam. He looked uncomfortable.
