A GREAT NIGHT | LYA

I initially thought that this day was going to be boring but in fact, I had a lot of fun.

Tom was surprisingly interesting. Beside the fact that I still didn't know much about him, I realized that we probably shared more similarities than expected.

He hated talking about himself and expanding about the details of his life, which was a good thing since I didn't want to go into details myself. Yet, when he briefly told me about his family, I saw the sparkles in his eyes fading and I had the feeling that he might have other stories about his family that he didn't want to share. Just like me.

He loved walking which was something I enjoyed as well. New York was a beautiful city to explore and when he offered to walk back all the way home, I gladly accepted. If I could avoid taking the subway, I would.

On the way back, he told me a little bit more about his best friend, Mike, and his relationship with him and it semed like these two were very close. I envied that a lot. I, too, wished I had someone I could share everything with, good or bad. A sister or a brother. Someone I could feel connected to.

"So, tomorrow, what time we have to be there at?" I asked once at the resisence, while waiting for the elevator.

"10 pm would be good. Just come to my place whenever you're ready... Since I know you're taking forever to get ready now" he snickered

"Hey! Don't start!"

He smiled for all answer. We entered the elevator which stopped at my floor first. "I'll see you tomorrow then" he said while the door was opening.

I walked out of the elevator and suddenly felt like I needed to say something. "Hey... I had a good time today. Thanks..."

He seemed surprised by my saying but just nodded and slightly smiled. "No problem. Nite"

The door closed and I walked toward my unit. Yeah... I did have a good time. I probably judged him to quickly. Once you go beyond his 'I-don't-give-a-fuck' attitude, he was pretty much a cool guy, and it was surpringly easier to talk to him than I thought. He ended up making me feel comfortable somehow.

I was glad to realize that my fake boyfriend was a guy I could somewhat get along with, despite our differences.

11 am... I woke up to the annoying noise of someone knocking at my door.

I miserably rolled out of bed and crawled to the door, ready to let that person behind know how pissed I was to be waken up when I was not fully rested.

"Hi, Lya!" A bright smile on, Sarah was at the door looking beatiful and fresh as if she had been up for some time already.

"Oh, hey Sarah... What brings you here?"

"Sorry, did I wake you up?".

My hair was probably a battlefield and I could still feel my eyes were not properly open. "No big deal, had to wake up anyway. What's going on?"

"Well, see, I wanted to ask you to come with me to pick a dress for tonight"

Right! I almost forgot that night was the big night. I didn't even think about what to wear and I was supposed to leave a big impression on his friends as a credible girlfriend.

"Hmmm, sure. I might need to buy one thing or two as well"

"Alright, just pick me up when you're ready?"

"Ok."

As soon as she left, I checked my closet to see what could work for the big night. But beside my regular clothes and a few casual outfits I bought with Sarah on our shopping spree, I didn't have anything outstanding.
