She sounded in pain... Her breathing, the way she was struggling to form words... I first panicked and thought something happened to her.
Indeed something happened... But something I would have never imagined. The few words she managed to say were enough for me to have a clear idea of how she was feeling at the moment. So I tried to ask her more details but... Seemed like she was no longer listening.
I didn't waste any seconds and immediately got dressed and rushed to her place.
If one thing could reach Lya more than anything else, it was her past. She never spoke about it much but every time she mentioned it, I could see in her eyes how bad it was affecting her. From the first time she told me about it... And still until that day.
I didn't know anything about what happened from the moment she left my place until she picked up the phone. But I was sure of one thing: she needed me.
I parked on a no parking zone, not giving a damn about the guy giving tickets just a feet farther. All I had in my mind was her.
I climbed the stairs 4 steps at a time, almost killing myself on the last floors. I somehow managed to land on my two feet safely on her floor... Right at the same time when her fucking asshole came out of the elevator.
We both froze at the sight of each other. We both clearly didn't expect to see each other at that moment and that surprise seemed to be as unpleasant for him as it was for me.
"Why the fuck are you here?" He asked while frowning.
His question seriously irritated me. Why was I there? Because she was my woman and my woman needed me. That was what I naturally wanted to answer. Because it was the truth. But I recalled the conversation that fucker and I had last night. If he was there, that was because she hadn't told him about me and her. Because she was still playing house with that guy. That simple thought immediately made me boil inside.
"What do you think? I'm here to see her" I answered while looking away.
He chuckled. What the hell was with this guy and his damn habit of snickering?
"Right... Stop tripping man and get the fuck out of here before I seriously loose my patience" he answered in a not so calm tone.
"What? You're gonna stop me?" I laughed, thinking I was five seconds from crushing this guy's face.
"Damn straight I will... She is my girlfriend and you have no damn reason to be here"
I could have just thrown my fist straight to his face once and for all so I would have never had to hear his annoying voice and cocky tone ever again. But he was just a detail at the moment. I needed to make sure Lya was OK. That was all what mattered. My jealousy could wait.
"I'm doing you a solid right now man... You should just leave. Because right now, you're probably the last person she wants to see. She called me to come here..." I ended up saying.
He froze for a split second and laughed.
"Right... Get the fuck outta here with your bullshit. Are you seriously that desperate?"
I sighed, getting pissed by the second. How to make this fucker leave?
Pulled my phone, went to the call log and showed him the last call I place that she answered.
He stared at the screen without showing a single emotion. I was not really trying to prove anything here. I just wanted to figured out if she was OK.
He looked at me moving toward the door without doing or saying anything. From that moment, I knew his suspicions were finding ground and honestly... I can't say it didn't make me a little happy.
