I opened my eyes and it took me a while to get situated. In that bed that was nit mine, that room that was not mine, in the arms of a man who was not mine.

Oh gosh! That was bad... Very bad! It all came back at once....

Tom and I kissed... And spent the night together.

My first reflex was to check that I was not naked. But I soon realized I still had my clothes on.

His arms were surrounding my whole body and he was holding me tight against his chest. The scent of his cologne was lingering around me and I somehow felt a wave of heat surrounding me.

I touched my lips and immediately recalled the feeling of his lips on mines. My stomach started tickling and I smiled stupidly.

I had missed him... Too much. Way too much. It had been months since I hadn't felt that amazing.

I could have said that that night made me happy... If reality didn't hit so fast right in my face.

How stupid of me! How selfish of me! How terrible could I be! Tom was no longer my boyfriend. Tom was Sarah's boyfriend. A boyfriend she loved more than anything else. And I was Mike's girlfriend, a man who cherished me everyday.

The guilt I felt at that moment immediately swiped off all happy feelings I felt before.

I immediately moved away from his arms and quickly got up. I needed to leave! As soon as possible.

What would I do if Sarah happened to see me coming out of Tom's room at 9:00 am? How would I be able to explain it?

That's precisely at that moment that someone loudly knocked at the door.

My body immediately jumped. I turned to Tom, who woke up with the sound of the knocking.

I desperately looked his way, startled, unable to figure out what to do.

He looked at me, trying to get situated, apparently still realizing what happened.

After a few seconds of total paralysis, he finally jumped out of the bed and walked to the door. He half-opened it while I went to hide in the bathroom, praying that it wouldn't be Sarah.

"What you doing here?" Tom asked on a very unfriendly tone.

"You're not returning my calls so I figured that I would need to stop by"

The person who answered was definitely not Sarah, which instantly took a huge weight off of my chest.

The voice belonged to a middle aged man and I never it heard before.

"Yep, I avoided your calls on purpose. No need to show up here. You can go back to your miserable life. Now get out of my place"

"I can stay here as long as I want since I'm the one paying for the rent"

I immediately understood it was Tom's father.

"Now let's talk about serious things. The sale of the house is going to take a few more weeks. Even so, I have decided to set up things properly in Los Angeles. By the end of the month, we need to set up things there for your training and introduce you to the new team. You're free to take your own place there as I don't want to have to deal with your crap like when you used to live at home..."

Tom started laughing in a scary way.

"Who said I will follow you old man? You seriously thought I was going to..."

"Oh you will! I refuse to tell people that the brat who's supposed to be my son preferred living in misery rather than accepting an indeclinable proposition"
