September,
you proved to be an interesting month.
You delayed my plans,
shifted the pages I thought I had already written,
and quietly reminded me
that sometimes the universe
has its own sense of timing.
Maybe the delay isn't a setback.
Maybe it's simply more time.
More time to watch her smile,
to admire the beautiful flaws
that make her exactly who she is,
to appreciate the little things
I might have rushed past
if everything had gone according to plan.
And somewhere in all this waiting,
I find myself smiling at the thought
of finally telling her those magic words.
Words I've carried quietly,
words that mean more than a question,
more than a moment,
more than anything I could place inside a box.
I don't know the answer.
I don't know the outcome.
And maybe that's what makes it beautiful.
For once,
I'm not trying to write the ending
before the story gets there.
So, September,
take your time.
I'll keep breathing.
I'll keep loving.
I'll keep appreciating her
one beautiful, imperfect day at a time.
And then...
October,
bring us joy.
Bring us chilly evenings,
Halloween lights,
pumpkin-colored sunsets,
spooky little adventures
and laughter that lasts too long.
Bring us October magic.
Let the nights get darker
while somehow making
everything feel a little brighter.
And whatever waits around the corner,
I'll meet it with an open heart.
Because sometimes
the best chapters
are the ones you never saw coming.
