I've never understood
how someone could ruin a love
they once begged the universe to find.
How could you hold the hand
of the person you called your future,
then make a choice
that could shatter everything you built?
Cheating doesn't hurt just two people.
It changes the person who was betrayed,
and it changes the person who chose betrayal.
One is left asking,
"Was I not enough?"
While the other eventually whispers,
"I knew better."
You can ask for forgiveness.
You can apologize until the words
lose their meaning.
You can promise it will never happen again.
But forgiveness is brave,
because the person giving it
has to listen to a heart
that you were the one who broke.
I heard someone say,
"I fucked up.
I cheated on her.
And I loved her."
But if you loved her,
why didn't you think of her
before you crossed that line?
Love isn't only the butterflies,
the late-night conversations,
the kisses,
or the promise of forever.
Love is the moment temptation arrives
and you remember
the person waiting for you at home.
Love is choosing them
when nobody is watching.
Because sometimes
the greatest proof of love
isn't what you do for someone.
It's what you refuse to do
because you know
how much it would hurt them.
If you truly love someone,
consider their heart
before you break it.
