Rio's POV

Five Months Later:

"How are they?" a worried Rio. She ran her hand up and down her gigantic belly as her brother watched her stomach with concentration.

"They are perfect," he answered, flicking his bright blue eyes to meet hers. He looked at her from her toes to her head. "But I couldn't say the same about you."

Rio sighed and leaned against the bed.

Once Silas, her kidnapper, had learned she was pregnant, he sent people to 'decorate' her 'room,' if you could even call the cement box a room. Rio was given a twin bed with scratchy blankets, a mini heater to keep away the cold, and a few pairs of sweatpants and oversized t-shirts for her growing belly.

But the new added luxuries to her cement box hadn't helped her health in the last few months. The heat had helped her stay warm in the chilly nights. They didn't feed her enough for three babies.

Rio suspected the only reason her children were perfect was because they were half werewolf and half angel.

And the only thing she had to look forward to each day was the cold broth and stale bread. She was suffering.

"You know I can take care of myself," replied Rio. She folded her arms across her growing chest and glared at her brother. "But maybe if someone would get me out of here, I would be feeling much better."

"I have told you several times now, little sister, I cannot, as you say, break you out of this prison," said Malachi.

Rio huffed. "Fine. Then tell me about Oz. Is he doing okay?"

"Oscar de la Vega is hurting. He misses you."

"That's because I've been gone for seven months. I'm about ready to give birth to these kids. I don't want to do that here. I don't want to have them living the way I am right now," confessed Rio. Tears threatened to spill from her eyes.

Malachi took a few steps forward to stand in front of his little sister. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to him. In her ear, he whispered, "It's all going to be okay, sister. I promise."

Rio sniffed. "Can you tell me their genders?"

Malachi pulled away in shock. "But you told me you wanted to be surprised?"

"Yeah, well, I just have this feeling that these horrible people will take them away from me," muttered Rio. She shook her head. "I— I don't know. It's stupid..."

"It is not stupid, little sister," replied Malachi. "Would you like to know their order of birth?"

"What do you mean?" asked Rio. "Wait, are you trying to ask me if I want to know which kid comes first?"

"Yes."

"Then hell yeah!" cried Rio.

Malachi nodded and begun with, "Your first child is a—"

"Maria! Who are you talking to?!"
