A Promise Broken

OMG I swear, I've had this idea in my head forever!!! Even before I ever thought of Alain being in this book, but that also means that I kinda rushed this chapter to my hearts content, so I hope you guys like it. 😆

"Girlfriend?" Ash weakly asked, wincing as the word escaped his mouth.

"Yeah, now stay away." Alain said sternly, turning back around towards me and took my hand this time instead of my wrist.

"Alain!" I started to pull away from his grip, but failed. "Since when were we girlfriend and boyfriend!?"

Alain stopped and looked over at me. "Since when were you and that bastard a thing?"

"Don't call him that!" I snapped back, tired of his attitude.

"Whatever." Alain scoffed and continued to drag me away.

"Hey!" Ash yelled and took Alain's hand and pulled it away from mine. "Leave her alone!"

"How about you leave us alone!" Alain said, turning back around to face Ash.

"No, you leave her alone!" Ash exclaimed, standing in front of me protectively, leading my cheeks to heat up slightly.

"What don't you understand? You can't just barge into someone else's relationships!"

"Why don't you understand? It's obvious that Serena doesn't like you." Ash said flatly, which led Alain's heart to be torn into shreds.

"Shut up!" Alain shouted, his hands forming into fists and through himself at Ash, his fist aiming towards Ash's face.

But then Ash flung his arm in front of him so that Alain's fist hit his arm instead. That's when Ash threw the next punch and hit Alain in the stomach, leading Alain to step back as the air left his lungs.

"Come on Serena." Ash said, taking my hand and started to run away from Alain who was still holding his stomach and trying to breathe.

"What are you doing?" I asked as we ran through the neighborhood and the streetlights that shone light onto the sidewalk, biting the dark.

"Away from him." Ash uttered sternly.

I kept my mouth closed from then on as I noticed that Ash was holding my hand, my cheeks flaring a bright pink.

"This way!" Ash yanked my arm an turned around the corner.

I looked over my should to see if Alain was following, but didn't see anything, a sense of relief washing over me, but then I heard something  in front of me and Ash, so I turned around and saw Alain in turning around the corner towards us.

"Serena go!" Ash pushed me away as he let go of my hand, but I just walked back over towards Ash.

"Ash, come on." I pulled on his arm, but he didn't budge.

"Wait." Ash stayed in place and clenched his teeth.

"What are you doing?" I asked still tugging on his arm.

"I'm finishing this."

"What?" My eyes widened.
