Chapter 9 - How do you fix a broken girl?

Joshua Matthews pondered over a question for days. How the hell do you fix someone that is broken? There's no glue for it. No adhesive. He was ashamed to say he did look it up though. He asked and asked if she was ok. He got the same answer every single time.
"Josh honestly I'm fine." Josh knew that when girls said they where fine. They were most definitely NOT fine. Josh considered flowers and hearts and chocolate. He considered surprising her with a shower of gifts or something. None of this would work. Not for Maya Hart at least. Then Josh remembered something. He thought of a moment in history when something special to Maya had been broken.

Flashback
Maya stared at the necklace around her neck. The sapphire heart and diamond clasp around it were the prettiest things she owned. Ever. The way the lights caught it when she was outside and how the colour would change in darkness and in light. She thought of how Shawn gave it to her as a leaving gift. And then he never came back. But she had something pretty out of it. Her mother couldn't stand this. How could her fiancée leave and only give his to be step daughter a gift? It blew Katy's mind. One night when Maya wore the necklace and was looking ever so happy and Katy had had too much to drink; she went over pulled the necklace off of Maya's neck; watched it crash to floor and the chain break and the diamond clasp break in two and the sapphire scratch; and the she passed out. The necklace was ruined and gone. Broken and smashed. Poof.

Josh knew he had to fix that necklace. He also knew that he wouldn't be the one to give it to her. Shawn had too. Josh quickly grabbed his phone and dialled his older brother Eric.
"Hey Eric"
"Josh use my proper title."
"Sorry senator."
"No not that."
"Senator of New York?"
"No"
"Eric; senator of New York?"
"No"
Josh sighed and rubbed his free palm over his head before saying quietly;
"Mr squirrels."
"Hello and how can I help you?" Eric's ecstatic voice bellowed down the phone.
"I need you to find Shawn for me with your senat... Sorry SQUIRREL powers."
"Mmhmm and is this for Malucia?"
"Her names' Maya Eric."
" I know her name, I like her very much."
