Chapter Forty Two-Poster Mother

Maya sat with Autumn on the floor playing with her and teaching her new words.A week or so a go Autumn had said 'sing' to Maya and Maya burst into tears and called Josh and Riley right away.The walking aswell was a working progress but Autumn was only 11 months old and Maya knew her child would be amazing at everything anyway.Riley sat on the couch staring at her best friend and her god daughter playing together and she envied them.Riley couldn't feel the connection with her son as Maya did with Autumn.It wasnt fair.Maybe it was just because she had had a boy and not a girl and that they would bond later on in life.Riley kept telling herself that as she sat with the perfect family.Huh perfect family.
"Riles are you not going to get River he probably needs a feed.He has been crying for like five minutes."
Maya had broke Riley from her trance and she began to be aware of a crying sound from the window seat.She hadn't even sat River near her,Riley had purposely sat at the opposite end of the room to her child.What was wrong with her?
"Oh er yeah sure food.Oh I.Oh Maya I am sorry to ask this but could you please look after him for a bit I just remembered that I have to go to work and pick some of my books up before it shuts and I haven't been since he was born which is like months right?"
It had been about a month.Just 1 month.
Before Maya could reply Riley was out of the door.
Gone.

Riley walked around the endless,magical streets of New York city until darkness was hitting the horizon.She had to clear her head and breathe.She had been to work and collected her items and even planned a few lessons for her students.Anything but be near her child.
She felt cruel and cold and strange.This was not the person she was yet every single time she tried to shake it off all she could feel was pain and emptiness.Right in the pit of her stomach.Stabbing through her heart.
Riley made her way back upto Maya's apartment and found only Maya there.
"Where is everyone?"
Maya looked angry.No she didn't she looked angry with a hint of furiousness and love.
"Where were you Riley.It has been 6 hours since you left.You left your son all day and didn't even call to check up on him or anyone.Farkle took hime home around an hour ago and I told him not to worry and I would find you and send you home.I sounded like a mother to you Riley.I can't be a mother to you as well as a mother to Autumn and god knows if I have to be one to River too now.Autumn and Josh are fine to by the way.They went with Farkle because I knew what I would do when you got back."
Maya walked upto Riley who was still stood by the front door gob smacked after what Maya had just said to her.
"Riles.You are sick and you need help.You have had River for four weeks now.One whole month and I have only seen you hold him like five times.Five Times Riley.I was researching post natal depression when you left and I figured a few things out and we can help you right from home.You won't need to leave or go anywhere and I will help you and Farkle said he would too and I made sure he understood what you are going through.Riles you're not alone it is all going to be okay."
Maya stepped forward to hug her friend but got pushed away.
"I am not sick.I do not have post natal depression and I love my son.YOU TALKED ABOUT ME TO MY HUSBAND.YOU SAID THAT I WAS SICK TO HIM AND YOU WERE ALL TALKING BEHIND MY BACK.That is not good friendship Maya.Not."
Maya was the one to be taken a back now but Riley had not finished.
"I AM NOT SICK OKAY.Now I am going to go home and be with my son and show you how not sick I am."
Maya had never seen Riley like this before.This whole side of her was new.

"Okay fine Riles do whatever the hell you want but before you go do this for me.Tell me your sons name.Say it."
Riley was flustered.
"I AM NOT SICK"
She stormed out of the apartment.
"Yeah sure Riley you are not sick."
Maya picked up te phone and rang Farkle.
"Be prepared.I couldn't talk to her so its all down to you guys over there now.Tell Cory and Topanga to not speak to her.She won't like it.And also Farkle.Its bad.She won't even say River's name........
