Chapter 27- The return

It was the 1st March when Zay made an appearance. He had arrived early in the morning with Vanessa behind him. He was talking on the phone and she was wrangling their little boy Max out of a stroller. He was an agent now. It didn't surprise any of them as he had been good with talking and people all of his life. Unsurprisingly as he walked through the door while Maya and Josh were eating their breakfast he handed out a business card and was already on the phone to Riley and Farkle telling them to get over to Mayas apartment as soon as possible. They where on their way over before it was half past ten.
"Zay! Oh my god it's so great to see you again." Maya said after shock and surprise of him bursting through her door had settled.
"Hello, Hello. It's great to see you all but somethings missing where is Lu..."
He was cut off by Vanessa clamping a manicured hand over his mouth. Max was jumping up and down trying to get Maya's attention and eventually after much whining she picked him up and nestled him in her hip.
"We're so sorry to intrude like this guys but we were thinking about moving to the city and Zay insisted that we visit you guys. Though I must say I was expecting to see someone else here with you Maya."
"Who? Lucas?"
"No. Riley"
Almost on queue Riley burst through the living room window and taking off her coat.
"Vanessa! Zay! It's wonderful to see you." Riley said almost out of breath. It was clear she had ran all the way here.
"It's great to see you too Cotton Candy Face." Zay laughed back with the same silly smirk that he had when they were younger.
As the day progressed, Zay and Vanessa got to know their old friends again. They had moved back to Texas not long after high school for college and lost touch with everyone. When Zay had left Lucas and Maya were still together. That was before everything happened. The everything that happened was not talked about it much nowadays and Vanessa often had to elbow Zay in the ribs to get him to stop talking.
"How old is Max?" Riley asked stuffing her face with chocolates. There was only Maya and Riley and Vanessa in the livingroom now because Zay and Farkle and Josh had gone to pick up the keys for Zay and Vanessa's new apartment. Max had fallen asleep in the laundry basket and Philly (the dog) was curled up on top of him.
"He's 5 almost 6." Vanessa said taking another sip of her coffee.
"Will you be enrolling him in kindergarten soon?" Maya asked.
"Soon. Then I'll return to work as an estate agent. My company has a branch here in New York."
"That's amazing!" Riley said and then she gasped, "that means I'll be teaching him!"
"Yes. It does." Vanessa laughed at the silly brunette who was now bouncing up and down on the sofa.
"Well. I wish you the best of luck." Maya chuckled.
"Oh. Thanks. Why?"  Vanessa asked raising an arched eyebrow at Riley who had a smile far to big for her face.
"You are gonna get a lot of purple cats."

LETS TALK ABOUT TEXAS PART 3 OKAY SO LUCAYA IS TURNING INTO RUCAS AND I AM SAD AND I KINDA NOW SHIP RUCAS BUT I STILL SHIP LUCAYA BUT IF I SHIP RUCAS THEN THAT MEANS JOSHAYA HAS MORE OF A CHANCE.OH YEAH AND THE CUTE RIARKLE SCENE KILLED ME.
