Chapter Thirty Eight-Mistaken

Ring.
Ring.
Ring.
Ring.

Ring.
Ring.
"JOSH PICK UP YOUR DAMN PHONE."
Ring.
Ring.
"JOSH I SWEAR TO GO IF YOU DON'T PICK UP THAT PHONE I WILL THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW ALONG WITH YOU."
Josh reached over and pressed decline.His eyes shifted quickly from the phone screen,to Maya,then to the T.V.He seemed to be acting very suspicious and that was the fifth time that day his phone had rang and he didn't answer it.
"So who is it hey Josh.Who needs you so much that they have called you ten million times in the past moring yet you keep ignoring them?What are you hiding?Josh?"
Josh's phone beeped but this time it was a text message.He read through the text and then stood up to get his coat.
"Its nothing okay.Just work pestering me.I need to go in for an hour or so and then I promise you they will leave me alone.I love you."
Josh placed on his coat and kissed Maya and Autumn goodbye.
Something was going on.

Maya was drawing on her art pad whilst staring out at the rainy New York streets.Autumn was asleep in her cot by Maya's side and Maya was sat on her window seat.Josh had been gone for two hours and Maya had become increasingly worried and annoyed.It was probably nothing she kept telling herself.Just work.It can only be work.Right?Maya couldn't even call Riley because herself and Farkle where on their two week long honeymoon.She was alone in this conundrum.Very alone.She continued to draw on her pad and stopped with a sudden when Josh came through the door.
"Wh-where-where have you been Josh.You said you would be an hour and you were three at the least.I--I am just worried that you are doing something Josh."
Josh shook off his coat and walked over to Autumn,dismissing Maya's comments.
"I had work."
Yeah work.Sure.Maya can have work to you know Josh.Wait what was she thinking.No.No.He actually just had work.
Maya hugged him and walked back to where she was sat before.What was that scent she got when she hugged Josh?It was sweet,too sweet to be anything of another man and it definitely wasn't hers.Maya scanned through her mind,trying to place the scent to a face or name.It was familiar.She continued to rack her brain untill she finally came to the right person.Her friend Mandy from the art studio that she used to stop off at after work when she first got to New York.She always knew Mandy had a thing for Josh but she never believed Josh had a thing for Mandy.Maya's head was slowly beginning to spin.
"I--I have--need some fresh air.I.I will be back."
Maya stood up and collected her bag and coat and left the apartment.
Josh looked puzzled but just assumed it was because she had been trapped indoors all day.Let women be women.Let Maya have a bit of alone time for a change without Autumn or Riley or Josh.
"Hey Mandy Maya just left so you can come over."

About and hour later Maya began the climb back upstairs to her apartment.She paused outside of the door because she heard the faint sound of Josh and a woman laughing.Mandy.Maya felt rage take over her body like a demon empowering her.She couldn't help it.She wouldn't let herself become weak now.She needed to act on it,after all she was Maya Hart.The Rebel.Just because she had a name change doesn't mean she had to go soft,no way.
"Oh Mandy hi did I forget about a plan or something?Did we plan to meet up today?"
Josh and Mandy had quickly jumped up off of the couch whilst also hiding a few items underneath the couch.
"Oh err Maya hey I thought you might have wanted to clear your head for a while longer."
Josh seemed very nervous and so did Mandy.
"WHY JOSH?SO THEN I COULD LET YOU CONTINUE WHATEVER YOU HAD GOING ON WITH THIS SKANK.WHAT WHAT IS IT NOW THAT I HAVE HAD A KID MEANS THAT I GET BORING FOR YOU AND YOU WANT TO TRY SOMETHING LESS WORN OUT.IS THAT IT JOSH?HOW LONG HAS THIS LITTLE AFFAIR BEING GOING IN THEN?HEYYYY."
Maya was furious.Both Mandy and Jsoh looked confused.
"Oh my Maya no no no that is not what is happ-"
"SHUT UP MANDY!"
Maya cut Mandy off and walked towards Josh.
"Explain.DONT LET YOUR LITTLE BITCH DO ALL THE TALKING."
Josh was breaking.He hadn't seen Maya like this for a while and last time it didn't end well.
"Maya I swear nothing happened between us honestly."
Josh made the mistake of having eye contact with Mandy.That was it.
"STOP LOOKING AT HER AND STOP THE STUPID ACT.I COULD SMELL HER ON YOU AND YOU HAVE BEEN ACTING STRANGE FOR WEEKS.I AM NOT THICK."
Josh inched closer to Maya.
"i know."
"Oh what was that I COULDNT HEAR YOU OVER THE DEAFINING SOUND OF LIES."
"I SAID I KNOW.BUT I HAVENT CHEATED ON YOU AND I NEVER EVER WILL BECAUSE I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY LIFE MAYA AND I WOULD NEVER BE THAT FOOLISH TO BREAK US UP.I LOVE YOU SO DAMN MUCH THAT I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH MANDY TO GET ONE OF YOUR ART PEICES INTO HER STUDIO.YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A SECTION TO YOUR SELF AND I WAS GOING TO SHOW YOU IT NEXT WEEKEND ON OUR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY.Happy now.Thanks for having faith in me my darling wife.ha."
Josh left.Soon Mandy did too.Maya was still stood in the middle of the living room with tears streaming out of her eyes.What had she done?Autumn had begun to cry.Maya walked over to her daughter slowly,still crying and still deeply ashamed.
"I feel the same way sweetie.I really do."

THAT WAS INTERESTING AND AWESOME AT THE SAME TIME. Brill writing Megan I could feel the mystery and the tension all the way through. WHOOP WHOOP.
Also this chapter is well over 1000 words which is fantabulous.
I wonder what happens next???
