The drive to HQ was always a depressing one. The once great city we lived in was crumbling more and more. Resembling more of an old abandoned one than what it really used to be. One of the parts we drove through had nothing but boarded up buildings and graffiti all over the walls. People were asleep on the street and a couple were fighting. Mikaela hit a button in the car to make the windows so dark that no one could see in nor could we see out of the side ones. It was pretty much like when people used to put blinders on a horse, just keep looking straight so they couldn't see anything that may startle them. I used to think she did that when we got to a certain part of town just because but figured out why exactly she did. About four blocks away from HQ was when she always did it, that's where my old house once stood. The one where my sisters and I grew up in with our family, where we had all of our memories. It was gone now though, nothing left there but an empty lot of land. It burned down about two weeks after all of the humans left. When the rioting was out of control, we grabbed what we could but it wasn't much at all. Mostly pictures and a few other things but everything else was lost. "We're here" Mikaela finally said pulling the car into a parking spot in front of the huge HQ building.

I hated it here. It was the safest building but it was also the most dangerous one. Here was where all of the research took place, it was also where they kept the worst of the worst infected. The ones that couldn't be out on the streets because they would only cause harm. Upon entering the building we had to be scanned, that wasn't too pleasant getting felt up by an all too handsy werewolf. "You didn't even buy me dinner first" I called over my shoulder to him as we got clearance into the building. HQ didn't really look like it would be some major security agency on the inside. It just seemed like a business building, nope no horrible beasts here. "OK Cande in all seriousness what  do you think Chris wants? I mean we've been out for this long then out of nowhere he contacts us, tells us to come in uniform?" "Gentlemen, Cande Luna captain of the black falcon." I called to two very attractive guys walking past us. " Cande focus! And good god turn around before you fall, walking backwards has never been a thing for you." Mikaela fought the smile pulling at the corners of her mouth as she called the elevator. "I don't know what Chris wants Mikaela, and honestly I don't want to but what other choice do we have?" She nodded in agreement. " "Oh dear god." I whispered as the elevator doors opened.

"Oh my god Cande I haven't seen you in what? A year or two?! You look great I always have loved you in uniform especially in your captain one. I've missed you so very, very much! Just so you know i'm still madly in love with you. You were my one true love and I need you back in my life. Are you re joining the agency? I've missed you very, very much." Mark ended his statement by looking down at his right hand. Mark is a warlock who I, I guess you can say I messed around with out of boredom. Nothing serious, not like a relationship or anything he was just there. That was it that was all it was supposed to be. He wasn't supposed to get attached because lets face it, when emotions get involved it just messes everything up. He wasn't ugly at all, he was tall, tanned, big black eyes and had a head of the most luscious hair you'd ever seen. He was just way too clingy. I mean it wasn't my fault he thought we would stay together forever and he drugged himself on one of his spells pretty much making him obsessed with me. I mean who does that? "So Cande any plans for the weekend?" I couldn't help but think of him saying how much he missed me than looking down at his hand, that was just wrong. "Oh uh yeah, yeah Mika and I. We're going to a, a thing. It's going to be a great thing, lots of people and stuff. It's invitation only, and I would totally invite you but Rachel is my plus one. Good talk though." I reached my hand in the elevator hitting the button so the door closed and he couldn't follow me out. "Haha oh my god Cande you would think that whatever he took would be out of his system by now. It's clearly not though, or maybe it is and he does really love you." Shaking my head I avoided Mikaela's statement and waved at one of the many mermaids in the tank as we walked to Chris' office. "Ok Cande can you please behave in there. Yeah I get we don't work for the agency anymore but you kind of, you have a temper when someone tells you something you don't like. All I'm asking you to do is keep calm and keep your wrath under control.

"Whatever are you talking about Mikaela? I am ever so delightful and I am calm and I don't have a temper." I smiled and batted my eyes at her as we entered the office. I was taken back by seeing Chris again. Time had not done him justice in my mind, he was older probably old enough to be my dad. He had grey in his hair, he was a silver fox and he knew it too. "Ah yes there she is my favorite resigned captain Cande and her ever loyal partner, sidekick whatever you may call her commander Mikaela. Come, come in sit lets talk." He waved an open hand to two seats in front of his over sized cherry wood desk. "Now you know I wouldn't cave contacted you if I didn't feel the need that I had to. Two of my top agents have brought it to my attention that a couple of offices are having problems with being over run by the infected. Dean, Aiden, you may come in now." With that two of the most gorgeous men stepped out dressed in the same clothing as Mikaela and I. Dean was tall with short  blondish hair and the most piercing blue eyes that looked like they were literally glowing. Not to mention the lovely body build he had. He didn't know but  I could tell he was a werewolf, I could see it in him. It's like he knew I was admiring his appearance because at that very moment he released a crooked smile and winked. That was one of my gifts. Aiden was tall with green eyes, longer brown hair, an amazing body and with the slight smile he had playing at the corners of his lips he had dimples. Aiden was a werewolf as well. They both pulled up seats besides Mikaela and I, Aiden by her and Dean by me. I had to act as if their godly good looks had no effect on me. I could feel my heart speed up with him being that close. Ignore it Cande, Ignore him and how gorgeous he is. Now is not the time nor is it the place. Taking a deep breath I was able to ignore him sitting close enough to where I could simply reach over and touch his beautiful face. "So what's the point of calling Mikaela here? What would possibly make you think that we care about the other facilities being over run?" I asked. "Because I know even though you've been through a lot I know you still care for the sake of the living. And also because If you're willing to accept my offer I could get you an airship that would take you to visit your loved ones on Neverlus for a month. Think about it a whole month being with your family, with your niece. Not having to be concerned about keeping them safe." He knew how to play his cards and he knew for fact that my family, our family was the weakness for Mikaela and I. "Lets just say for a  second that I Believe you, how would you get an airship. They're expensive, you need security clearance to even get near there and," "Because I have all of that Cande, now what do you and Mikaela say?"
