Chapter 33: Friday Before Break (Part 2)

    I was in 4th period when I had this funny gut feeling in my stomach. I felt off, like something was going to happen. I pushed it to the back of my head. I was falling asleep, bored out of my mind. We were watching a movie in class and I couldn't keep my head up. Only 3 hours left until spring break started. I was dying to get out of here!

    I was walking out of my fifth class to go to my locker for lunch. I was about to text Collin, when suddenly I felt myself bump into someone. I looked up. Apparently, it was two people.

"Oh, sorry," I said looking into those green eyes that were so familiar yet so strange.

"It's fine," Harry said.

My eyes traveled from his to Amber, then to the arm wrapped around her shoulders. Harry's arm. I stood there a bit awkwardly for a second, then walked past them once I snapped out of it. A sudden feeling of sadness filled inside me. Harry deserved to be with someone he loved. I texted Collin to ask where he was. He told me not to wait up for him, and just hang with the boys for lunch. I wanted to hang out with him though. I was going to be gone for a week and not be able to seeing him. I did as I was told, and sat with the boys.

"Hey Lanny," Liam said, cheery as I sat down between him and Niall.

"Hey Lee. Hey Zayn-y, Lou, Ni," I said to each one of them smiling.

"Only a few hours left to leave this dump. And less than 24 hours to leave for the great U.K.," said Louis.

"Oh, gosh I can't wait."

"You ready?" Zayn asked.

"Mentally? Hell yes!"

"Good! I'm so psyched," Niall said after swallowing the food he had in his mouth.

"Why aren't you with Collin?" Zayn asked.

"Ouch! I see I'm not wanted around," I said jokingly.

"You know we love you," said Liam, ruffling my hair.

    We talked about how our classes were going that day. I was confident about my test I had to retake next period. I know I was going to pass it. I had to return a book I had borrowed from the library and get back notes from a fellow student.

"Excuse me guys. I gotta go somewhere before the bell rings. See ya after school," I said and got up from the table.

I walked to my locker and grabbed my books from there. I noticed a curly brown headed boy walk up to the locker beside me. I looked at him and grinned. Harry grinned back. I looked over at Amber and I could tell she felt uncomfortable. Like I was a threat to her. It made me laugh inside. Since she told Amanda what I had said at the bon fire, I hadn't talked to her. I didn't hate her, I just knew I couldn't trust her.

"So, Harry. You gonna miss me during break?" she asked, getting his attention.

With that, I closed my locker and headed toward the library. I returned the book and got the notes back. I went to go get a water bottle from the vending machines they had by the front office at school.

    I was walking around the corner to go sit with the guys at the lunch table, when I heard a familiar voice. Amanda.

"Leave her already. I mean come on, she doesn't love you."

"But--"

"But nothing. You've already cheated on her as well. You'd be happier with me. Someone from the same social level."

"Haha, you would say that," I heard another familiar voice respond.

"You know it's true. Just leave her already. Be with me."

I poked my head around the corner and I saw Amanda throw her lips on him.

"Mmm, Amanda. Stop," he said, in between kisses. 

"Oh, come on Collin. You know you love it. Forget about Alannah."

I couldn't take it anymore. My heart fell and shattered into a million pieces.

"Yeah, Collin. Just forget about me," I said walking up to them.

I felt tears form, eventually leaving my eyes and running down my cheeks. I couldn't believe everything I've just heard and seen. 

"How long have you been doing this? With her? How long have you been cheating on me, Collin?!" I said, yelling his name. 

"I can expla--"

"He's been cheating on you since the summer," Amanda said bluntly.

"I can't believe you! I've been faithful to you," I said and turned my back to them.

"Alannah, come back," Collin said as I started walking away.

Walking, became sprinting to get away. I passed by the boys' table.

"Lanna? What's wrong?" I heard Liam and Zayn said faintly as I began to run.

"Lan," Louis called to me, as he was with Niall near the lockers.

"What happened?" Niall called out.

I kept running. I didn't want to look back. I passed by Harry, who was leaning his arm against the wall above Amber with her back leaning against it.

"Hey, you o.k.?" he said. 

I barely heard him. I didn't bother to reply, I just kept running. I ran all the way to the girls' bathroom.

    After about 5 minutes of crying, the bell rang. I had to clean my face off and act strong. Like nothing ever happened. I walked straight into my class, not wanting to be bothered or seen. After more students came into the room, I heard murmurs about what had happened. I heard all kinds of things. It was amazing how rumors were started. I did my best not to pay attention to any of it. I looked at my notes I had for the test I was about to take. That was the only thing on my mind. The test.

    It was a bit hard to concentrate, but I did it. I had confidence that I was going to pass it. It helped escape the nightmare I was living. Reality started setting in. My phone had vibrated throughout the test. Then I got another message. I pulled my phone out and read the messages. 7 unread messages.

     7 unread messages

     1 Collin- Alannah, please let me exp...

    I looked at his name and deleted it. I was done with his crap. That was the last straw for me. I was not ok to be with someone who was cheating on me. I understand I almost cheated on him, but it never happened. I never let it go far. I was done with Collin.

   1 Liam- What's wrong Lanna bear?

   1 Louis- Hey, what's wrong? :(

   1 Zayn- Who's arse do I have to kick?

   1 Niall- Do Zayn & I have to kick arse?

   2 Harry- I'm here for you Lanna... Always

I clicked on Harry's who had 2 messages. The second one read:

    Whatever happened, know I'm here for you. No matter what. You have that necklace as my promise.

I smiled at that last part. I replied to them that I'd tell them later. They planned on coming to my house before our trip.

    I took the promise ring Collin gave me off. He broke his promise. I wanted to throw it away, but I was just going to give it back to him. Or maybe even Amanda. I hated Collin. He had taken everything from me. I put my head down and began to cry. I heard murmurs again. I didn't care, I just let the tears run down. I had been cheated on. My heart was broken into a bunch of little pieces.
