Max :)

No matter how much you want to deny it, it always sucks being the new kid. And everyone who has been the new kid at some point in their life knows that this is the sad truth.

My first day was as horrible as any other and the highlight of it was getting hit in the head with a football. But before we get to that, lets backtrack a bit.

The name is Maxwell Evens, Max for short, and I was born and raised in California. No, I am not the average blond haired, blue eyed narcissistic hunk but I do know how to ride waves like one. I learned how to surf when I was four and haven't stopped since. Books are my only other obsession and I guess I'm a huge nerd.

When I moved to Somerville which was halfway across the country, I couldn't surf anymore since there weren't any beaches around. All I had were my books and my music plus the loneliness thing. Yeah, I wasn't that much of an outgoing person.

I unpacked the last of my things and plopped down on my bed with a sigh. Sunday's were my worst days even back in California. They always made me depressed no matter what. And this Sunday was especially bad because tomorrow I would start at my new school.

My father walked in and I immediately scooted back to the farthest edge of my bed in fear. Once my mother entered too, relief washed over me.

"Get some sleep, Maxy. You have a big day tomorrow." My mother said with a bright smile.

"Okay." I said and nodded quietly.

"Good night." My dad said and after my mother walked out he winked at me.

This was definitely going to be a hard adjustment.

. . .

I pushed through the crowd of people and looked for my first class. There was no hope of finding anything is this gigantic building!

I tapped the shoulder of a guy in a football jersey. "Hey, do you know where H10 is? I'm kind of lost." I said in a small and shy voice.

He looked to his friends and nodded. "I think that's near the pool, right guys?" He then turned to me. "We'll show you where it is."

I followed the jock guys down an empty hallway but they just stopped. The turned to me and I gulped in fear as they stalked forward.

"Alright boys, I'll pin him down, take your hits." The tallest one who was the leader of the group said.

Welp, I'm screwed, I thought.

"Leave the newbie alone." A deep voice echoed.

I turned to see a tall guy with blond hair and a perfect jawline standing there... defending me. He had a nice as and looked like one of the more popular guys but I guess he wasn't since he was standing up for a complete and utter nerd who still had his reading glasses on from this morning.

"What do you want, Walsh?" The jock leader said.

"I want you to stop being a dickhead and stop picking on people."

"Get to class, boys!!!" One of the teachers yelled. Yet another person saving me.

"This isn't over, Walsh."

The other guys walked off and I let out a sigh of relief.

"Thanks for saving me." I said.

"No problem." He put out his hand. "Nick Walsh."

I shook his hand timidly. "M-Max Evens."

"Sorry about Jake, he can be a bit hostile when I'm not sucking him off." He said making me pale a bit.

"Y-you're gay?"

"Loud and proud." He beamed. "Everyone's a little gay inside, some more than others."

"I-I am too."

"Well, I guess we'll be great friends then. C'mon, let's get you to class." He said and dragged me along to who knows where.
