Maxy

My head rested on Danny's chest and we lay there in silence as he ran his fingers through my hair. I forgot what it was like to be with him like that. To just waste time not talking and just laying there with each other.

"I missed you, Max." Danny said and kissed my forehead.

"I know, you've told me." I chuckled.

"But it's not just you; it's your personality, your smile, your shitty music taste, and the child that's hiding behind the serious man. That's what I missed."

"Hey, my music taste is not shitty!"

"You still listen to the same bands you listened to in the tenth grade."

"Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco are great bands."

"Whatever you say, nerd."

"God, you never let go off that asshole jock attitude."

"And I never will."

I paused and let that question linger once more. "I want to move back to California."

"Is that so? You want to leave the life you've made here and all of your friends?"

"I want you to come with me, Danny." I looked up at him. "I think you would like Cali. I can teach you how to surf and we can get a house and start a new life."

"Max, California isn't home to you anymore and you know that. There's nothing for you there. You just want to run from something and I know it."

"I'm not running from anything. I just want to move back out there with you. We could get married, have kids, have a life. Here we're both just nobodies."

"I have my family to take care of. If you want to move out there, go ahead, but I can't come with you." He kissed my lips and got out of bed. "Think about it."

I had just gotten back with Danny but I really wanted to move. Maybe I would have to leave him behind once again.
