I cuddled closer into the warm surface that I was pressed against. Danny was like my personal pillow in bed and just having his arms wrapped around me protectively made me want to stay there forever.
"Mmm, Danny." I hummed as his embrace tightened.
"You want breakfast?" Adam asked in his morning voice.
I snapped back into realization. Adam was in bed with me, not Danny. My father was going to jail for doing all of those things to me. And my boyfriend probably hated me.
I nodded and watched as Adam sat up. He leaned down and kissed my forehead then walked out of the room.
Rolling over, I grabbed my phone and checked the time. 12:30, well, I guess there was no point of going to school late then. Getting up and throwing a sweatshirt on and no pants, I walked down to the kitchen. Adam was already making pancakes and bacon.
"When are you leaving?" I asked with a yawn.
"Whenever you feel like kicking me out."
"Don't you have school? I mean, you've already missed a week."
"I dropped out."
I paused. "You dropped out of school?! Why the hell did you do that!?"
"It wasn't a good fit for me." He sighed. "Then my parents kicked me out so I stayed with a friend. Now I work at the club downtown. It pays well and sex is a bonus so I guess it's okay."
"Adam why did you tell me?"
Then he burst our laughing. "God, you are so gullible, Maxy! You really think I would drop out and become a stripper? I'm seventeen. Besides, I wouldn't sell this body for cheap sex. All this costs at least ten grand minimum."
I smacked his arm as hard as I could. "You nearly gave me a heart attack, you asshole!"
"I'm sorry, but it's always fun messing with you." He chuckled. "You're still the same old Max that I used to bang in the janitors closet."
"You were always one to pick the most romantic settings, A." I said sarcastically.
"Remember our first date? Surfing the Cali waves all day long and having a picnic on the beach?"
"And even though I said that I don't kiss on the first date, you still kissed me anyways." I smiled.
"That was the day I fell in love with you." Adam looked to me. "And I want to do it all over again with you."
"What?"
In a flash, Adam cupped my cheeks and kissed me passionately. To say that I was frozen in complete shock was an understatement. But I was able to push him back.
"I have a boyfriend!" I stated.
"Who ditches you for his jock friends and doesn't have the decency to hold your hand un public. He's a dick, Max. He just wants you for sex."
"And that's worse than what you did to me?"
"I've changed, Max. But a guy like him won't."
I stopped as a flood of emotions hit me. Was he right? Was he wrong? Should I take him back?
Without thinking, I stormed out of the house. I wanted to drive away and never be found again.
