"Daniel Dominitri." The principal called my boyfriend's name and I clapped loudly as he walked up on the stage to get his diploma.
A few more people were before me and I was nervous, sweaty palms and everything. This was saying goodbye to childhood and hello to adulthood. I wasn't ready to be an adult.
"Maxwell Evens." The principal called and a uproar of clapping came along with me walking on the stage.
I shook the principal's hand and got my diploma. Then I went to go sit back down with a bright red face. After a lot more diplomas were handed out, we got to the end of the ceremony.
"Congratulations graduates of the class of 2009."
We all threw our caps into the air with cheer and caught them. We were out of high school and officially adults. This was insane to me.
I looked around at people hugging their friends and making plans for the summer. When I looked around I realized that I hadn't made any friends in the past two years to make summer plans with. I had Nick but he still hated me for the whole Jake thing even though he had a new boyfriend.
My eyes scanned the large bunch and found Danny. He was walking over to me through the insane crowd of people. Everything went in slow motion as he pulled my in by the waist and kissed my lips. No one was paying any attention to us and it felt like time was moving in slow motion.
"I love you, Maxwell Evens." Danny said to me, taking my hand and slipping a ring onto my finger. "And no matter what anyone says, I'm going to be with you forever."
