"Well, I think that's the last box." Danny said as he stacked the cardboard box on top of three others. "I think it's safe today that you're officially moved in."
"Great, I'm fucking beat." I sighed and plopped down on the couch.
"You're lucky this place came with furniture."
"Yeah, or else we'd be sleeping on the floor tonight."
Danny leaned over the couch and kissed my lips. "Gotta save my back for bootcamp."
"From what your dad has told me, I don't know how you're going to survive in the smoldering heat with bugs everywhere that you can't swat at."
"I think I'll be fine. Dad taught me his old army trucks anyway." He smiled at me. "What do you want for dinner, baby."
"Well, all I have in my cabinets is a box of mac n' cheese so I guess that's what we're having."
"Sounds good to me." He walked into the kitchen. "Now, which box has the kitchen supplies in it?"
I sighed. "I guess we better start unpacking then."
. . .
After about three hours of unpacking boxes to try and find a simple pot and wooden spoon, we finally we able to make dinner. We sat in the living room eating in silence.
"Well, if this isn't fine dining, I don't know what is." My boyfriend said.
"I couldn't agree more." I chuckled.
"Here, I'll do the dishes." He got up and took our bowls.
"Babe, I'm going to get in the shower. You can join me if you want but nothing sexual." I walked over to kiss his cheek and then walked to the bathroom.
As the warm water poured down my back, I felt all of the stress of the day wash away. That was the one time of day where I was alone with my thoughts. Well, until my boyfriend came in to join me.
"Move, loser." Danny said and pushed in front of me to put his head under the water.
I sighed. "God, I hate you sometimes."
"Oh shut up, you know you love me."
"Shit, I forgot the shampoo."
When I tried to get out Danny pulled me in by the waist and pressed me against his warm chest. I was surprised but didn't mind one bit.
"We don't need it." He said into my ear and started kissing down my neck.
"We're both sweaty and gross, this is the reason why we're taking a shower."
"But I want kisses." Danny whined.
I turned and put my hands on his chest. "I'm going to go get the shampoo." I kissed his lips.
"You're no fun."
"I'm a nerd, it's what we do." I smiled and walked out of the bathroom.
After we were both clean, we dried off and got ready for bed. I hesitated but knew this would be good for him.
"There's one thing I want you to do for me before you leave." I told him.
"And what might that be?"
"This is going to sound really, really weird but I want you to draw me."
"Draw you?"
"Naked."
"Naked?"
"It sounds really weird, I know." I sighed and joined him on the bed. "But I want you to have me out there with you and remember what I look like and everything."
Danny pecked my lips. "Of course I'll draw you, baby. It gives me an excuse to look at you naked all the time too." He walked into the other room to grab his sketchbook. "Pose for me, Maxy."
I lay on the bed with nothing on and watched as Danny went to work. I couldn't help but think how much I was going to miss him. His touch and kiss were my everything and I would go probably years without that. Danny was my drug and I couldn't go a day without my fix.
"Done." He said and came over to show me.
"It's beautiful, babe." I kissed him again.
"I'll keep it with me. Always."
Danny smiled and kissed me deeply. Our bond was strong even though I was losing him so quickly.
