"Are you ready for the best night of your life filled with junk food, cliché horror movies, and more junk food?" I asked Adam as I walked into the living room with a bowl of popcorn in my hands.
"Oh hell yes." Adam grinned as he flipped through the DVDs. "Which one first? The Shinning or Scream?"
"Whichever one has more gore in it."
"Scream it is then." He popped the movie into the DVD player and rushed to sit back down.
Just as the movie started, my phone buzzed and I took it out of my pocket. Danny had texted me which got me excited.
My house asap. We need to talk
"Pause it." I told Adam.
"Why? What happened?" He asked.
"Danny just texted me. He says to go to his place and that we need to talk."
"Uh oh. Boyfriend troubles." He sighed.
"What should I do? I mean, what if it's urgent?"
"Go. I get it, you're worried about your boyfriend."
"He's not my boyfriend."
"Whatever he is, he's important to you. So go and solve your little relationship problems."
"What about our movie night?"
"I'll still be here when you get back. Now go."
I grabbed my phone and jacket and was out the door within seconds. But as I was driving, I couldn't help but wonder what he wanted to talk about. Was it about me? Or him? Or the both of us? Was he breaking up with me?
I knocked on Danny's front door and waited anxiously. He opened it and gave me a distant look.
"Uh, Max, sorry for dragging you here so late but I don't really understand the English homework." Danny said and I assumed his parents were home.
"That's fine. I'm always happy to help." I faked a smile and stepped in.
Xavier was playing with his toys on the floor, his dad was watching the baseball game, and his mother was in the kitchen baking. We were able to sneak upstairs easily since everyone else was so distracted. Once the door closed, his lips were on mine.
"I missed you, baby." Danny said as he showered kisses all over my face.
I put my hands on his chest and pushed him away slightly. "What did you want to talk to me about?"
"We can get to that later. Right now all I want is you." He kissed my lips again.
"Danny, you cant just text me making it sound like an emergency when all you want to do is make out!? You scared me shitless!" I whisper shouted.
He let out a heavy sigh. "I'm sorry."
My hands cupped his cheeks and I pecked his lips. "Now tell me what's going on."
"Sit."
We both sat down on his bed and I waited in anticipation. Danny let out another heavy sigh and looked at me with glistening hazel eyes,
"I want to talk to you about what happened a few nights ago." He said.
"Okay. Go ahead."
"I shouldn't have done that to you... Kisses you liked that and... I feel really horrible about it. You had just told me everything and I pushed that aside and treated you like you were... you know..."
"It's okay, Danny. You didn't know what to do and I had just told you everything."
"All I want is for you to feel comfortable."
"For once in my life I've met someone who actually gives a damn and wants to be with me. I'm grateful to just be looking at you right now, Danny." I smiled. "So when we're both ready, we'll make love. But for now we can keep the physical part out of it.
Danny pulled me in by the waist and let our lips meet once again. I wrapped my arms around his and let him hold me tight. But when the door opened, we both jumped back quickly.
Xavier stood at the door with a confused look on his face. "Mom said the cookies are ready. What were you two doing?"
"Nothing, Xavier. Tell Mom I'll be down in a minute." Danny said and I gave him a panicked look.
"Your brother just walked in on us kissing!"
"He's ten. I'll give him ice cream later and tell him not to talk about it."
"You better hope that works or else I'm dumping your sorry ass."
Danny pulled me in for another kiss. "Max, can I ask you something?"
"Of course. Ask away."
"Max Evens, will you be my boyfriend?" He asked, making a bit cheesy.
I'll admit that all I wanted to do was squeal like a fangirl, jump into his arms, and kiss him a lot, but I didn't. I just smiled and blushed a bit.
"Of course. Now I really have to get home but I'll see you later."
"See you tomorrow."
I kissed him one last time and then left. And for the rest of the night, I was on cloud nine.
