"And to congratulate the class of 2015 I would like to call the graduates to accept their diploma." My principal announced Infront of the crowd of high school graduates and proud family members. My heart was racing and I knew my name would be called very soon. I had finally made it out of this hell hole.
"Jasmine Bellows." My principal said, my heart raced when I heard my name. I walked down the aisle to the row of principals and the superintendent to shake their hand. I smiled and shook everyone's hand and got to the last person who would also give me my diploma. My superintendent. He smiled at me with his slicked back curly brown hair and blue eyes. I smiled and he handed me my diploma.
"Congrats." He smiled and shook my hand.
"Thank you." I said shyly, it seemed like I had been standing with him for hours when it was only a few seconds. I've had a crush on my superintendent since he started working at my school and no one ever understood why. I walked back to my seat just as we practiced for graduation days before and sat down next to one of my bestfriends who had already been called to get her diploma.
"I saw you up there with your boy." She smirked.
"Did you have a moment?" She laughed. I hit her arm. She always joked around about my crush on him since the end of sophomore year.
"Shut up." I blushed and looked down and started playing with my fingers.
"Hey atleast you're of age now so you technically could have a thing with him." She said. I laughed quietly. That could never happen even if I wanted it too, I thought to myself.
Everyone was called down and we left the auditorium to meet in the cafeteria to take pictures with family members and pictures with friends.
"I'm so proud of you sweetie." My mom smiled and kissed my cheek.
"Jasmine!" My friend Carter yelled across the room and struggled to run across the cafeteria in her heels to get to me.
"Are you coming to the dinner party after this?" She asked.
"Yeah." I smiled. She got excited and went back over to her family to continue taking pictures.
When everyone was finished taking pictures and congradulating eachother everyone left to go home and change to something more casual and some just went straight to the resturant. My parents took me home so I could change out of my white dress and cap and gown and put on a nice outfit. I ended up putting on a maroon skirt, a white crop top, a denim button up and a pair of brown boots and purse to match along with it. I smiled at myself in the mirror. I couldn't believe I was finally graduated and turning this page of my life.
"I'm ready." I said excited as I walked down the steps. My parents smiled at me and we walked to the car so they could drive me. They weren't going to stay for the dinner they were just going to drop me off. I typed in the address and we started driving.
When I got there I waved to my parents and saw a lot of my classmates outside and some teachers and administrators. I walked over to my friend and hugged her.
"I can't believe we did this." I said laughing.
"I know, it's like it was yesterday we were joking about dropping out for failing a biology test in sophomore year." She laughed. I laughed with her until I looked over to the front door as it opened. It was my superintendent. He was wearing dark blue jeans, a navy blue blazer, and black t shirt underneath with his hair slicked back. He was holding a glass of whiskey and took a sip as he smiled at me when he saw me staring at him. I smiled shyly and looked down at the ground blushing while pushing a strand of hair behind my ear.
