Entry 9:

I've never really gave it any thought, but I guess it wouldn't really matter. I've never had a pet. I've been with pets before, like with my best friend, Carla Evergreen, her dog loves me. Well... maybe because I'm a mutt too... Anyways, I've never really thought of having another "friend," since I have Carla. I guess it wouldn't be all bad, would it? I mean... my parents aren't against it, so should I get a pet?... I'll think this through...maybe...

Zavier and I kept walking, and ended up at a small shop. "I think this is the place," Zavier said, back to being mostly emotionless. I nodded, "I wonder what we have to get..." I said. "You young ones shall see... Come in, come in," a voice said. It was a very kind voice, that came from a lady. I shrugged at Zavier, and he opened the door. Inside, sat a middle aged lady, with long blonde hair and friendly chocolate brown eyes. "Good evening," I greeted, smiling brightly. "Hello!" she said happily.

"Here. Have a seat. My name is Maribeth Vault," she said, pointing to two seat across from her. As we sat down, I looked around. The counter towards the left, held a cash register and a couple of jars. I'm guessing this is an herbs/medicine shop. "My name is Zavier Slater, and this is my partner, Dusk Sinclaire. We were-" he was cut off by Maribeth. "I know. You were sent here, by my friend at one of the stores in the city," she said smiling. "If you don't mind me asking, what are we recieving?" I asked.

Maribeth smiled at me, picking up a basket with a white cover over it, "In this basket, is something my friend, Mrs. Park, believes will help you two. I asked her to choose someone who will accept this... Someone who will absolutely need this. Mrs. Park has a keen eye for these things, and chose you two as the ones to receive this," she said, liting the basket. "Do we take it, and deliver it to someone?" Zavier asked. Maribeth shook her head, "No. All you must do, is take this with you. You two have been chosen for a special reason... Think of it as a sort of gift for things that you have done and will do. I guarantee that this shall bring you luck and be of help. Now I must be off, so please take it," she said, handing us the basket.

"Ah... Uh... Thank you very much," I said, smiling up at Maribeth. She nodded, "Thank you. Don't look until you reach the Human Terrain. Goodbye," she said as we walked out the door. "That was...peculiar," Zavier said. "I know. Now let's go. We've got school tomorrow," I said, walking off with the basket. Not only did we have school... I really wanted to see what was in the basket.

Zavier and I made our journey back to the Human Terrain. We reached the Human Terrain, and I was about to open the basket. Unfortunately, Zavier stopped me, "Let's wait until we get to your house. What if it's something... bad," he said. I shrugged, "Okay. Let's hurry. I'm dying to know what's inside," I said, walking away again. He caught up easily, and walked with me.

We walked for what seemed like hours, and finally got to my house. Both my sisters were asleep on the couch, and my parents were sound asleep in their room. We snuck upstairs, trying not to wake anyone up, and went into my room. Closing the door behind us, Zavier sat across from me on my bed. "Ready?" I asked. He nodded, "Yes. Lift the blanket," he said.

I reached down and lifted it. Inside the basket, was something small, white, and furry. I tilted my head in confusion, "Huh?" I asked. I poked it, and we watched at is it rolled over. "It's a white demon fox, also known as Teumessian Fox," Zavier said. Its red eyes looked up at me, and all nine of its tails moved slightly. "Teumessian Fox? Like in the Greek Mythology?" I asked. "Sort of. These are only named after them, but they are extremely rare, and only given to certain people," Zavier said.

"Okay, but why would we get this little fella?" I asked. Zavier shrugged, "Some believe the people who get one are blessed, others believe they can be of great use. It really all depends," he said, looking up at me. "What do we do?" I asked, not really sure of what I was doing. "Well, we have no other options... We keep him here. He'll be our comrade in missions and other things," he said picking the small furrball up. He pet it lightly on the head, and its eyes slowly closed.
